  • I would vote to ignore this poll but that would not be ignoring it,so I will vote to not vote.I cannot see the value or good that this thread does for the advancement of collecting or anything positive, for that matter. It would be interesting to hear what the intentions were for this poll. Can you give one positive reason for it ?

    Thanks,

i sign on and all i see is bickering between davalillo
and some pretty respectable people.the guy has sworn to
leave "forever" atleast twice but he persists.if you hadn't
noticed the constant confrontations then this poll isnt for
    you.

if a biotech company in a phase 2 trial
had this type of data the fda would end
the trial (poll) early for humanitarian reasons!.

  • You can't miss the skirmishes on here. However...

I'd say Davalillo is a)enjoys collecting and b)stands behind his posts. So people disagree and arguments start. Hey, it happens, especially when it's a diverse bunch of people who feel strongly about the same thing. Davalillo isn't the problem, it's the people who just antagonize to antagonize. Based on a) and b), I think Jim is not one of those people. Abrasive, yes. But it takes all kinds. People are allowed to disagree. This isn't church.

davadillo has stopped his comments about PSA managment etc ....at least he has improved there. those comments were out of line given that we are posting on PSA board

he has never been on the modest side and he will definetly never win a charming personality contest, but he is not a bad guy and he cares for our hobby.

PC ...you often write cryptic and double meaning posts that could be taken as confrontational too.

    even this poll is confrontational

so relax ..the dow is getting fatter and the holidays are here

Does this mean the board wants to give HIM the silent treatment or respond to each and every one of HIS posts? OR Does it mean we want him to give US the silent treatment (and leave) or respond to each and every one of OUR posts?

Now that he's gone underground in his "crusade to improve PSA" ... I haven't seen him make all that many posts that warranted heated debate...or a poll like this. Have I missed something lately?

I don't think he should be treated any differently than any other board member.

Wow--I am honored. I find disagreements about things concerning the hobby much more interesting than most topics discussed here. Just do not like the personal attacks. Or people that attack under assumed names.

Sorry if some of you find a different point of view too much to handle.

Actually, I have a lot of friends in the hobby--collectors and dealers alike--

    Merry Christmas to everyone.

    This isn't church.

That would explain why my pastor was so upset with me being here on the boards every Sunday morning.
  • If the moderator is reading this one my vote would be to have pc banned from the boards.
This thread is needless, childish, and has no place in discussions about PSA cards and the Set Registry.
PSA should remove it immediately and I will email them immediately about my feelings.
    Happy Holidays to all.

    RayBShotz,

Thank you. I have gotten several e-mails to that effect but you are the first one with enough guts to say it.

    Merry Christmas.

  • Jim,

Thank you. My email has already been sent to PSA.
For the record, Jim and I do not know one another personally and we have never met. I respect all he has done for PSA and our great hobby vicariously through these Message Boards. Like many others here that I have never met, I consider him a friend of sorts; a guy who shares the same passion for cards as us all. Opinions about sets and cards are only that. It's the life's blood of the Message Boards and also of our hobby. We enjoy it so because we can talk about it with our peers and share our collections and our experiences. If we keep it to just that, this will continue to be a place that sources endless enjoyment for all.
    Once again; Happy Holidays.

    But it makes a point.

  • The two choices that you have are (1) every thread ends when davalillo posts or (2) every post that davalillo has several hundred people should respond. I will vote like Richard Pryor, "None Of The Above". Everyone can and should be able to decide if they want to respond to any post that they read. If you want to boycott a board member, do not read any post that they put up.

RayB - I echo many of your sentiments, but emailing PSA to ban PC is somewhat absurd in my opinion. It looks as if the poll was created to raise a stink and cause a ruckus, but to have someone banned because of it is not the correct thing to do. PC removed the poll, and I am sure PSA would have considered doing the same thing. There are a lot of issues that are posted (some very recently) that obviously make people upset and are written only for that very purpose, or so it seems. It appears that there is a certain collector that obviously has an extensive collection and makes others aware of it. The comments made by this same person on a recent thread was a prime example of his typical posts. I do not know this collector at all and I have never dealt with this collector. Obviously many dealers and collectors have had successful dealings with this person.

    However ...
He has belittled others collections, aired dirty laundry, and with the exception of bonus money he has to spend how he should command a fair deal, he rarely brings any insight into the boards. That is his choice, and it has been my choice and a few others not to respond. There is not a reason to respond, as my collecting goals and reasons I read and post on these boards are very different than his and usually the post is centered (or becomes so) around himself and his needs.

I am not trying to raise a stink. I am not pointing fingers either. Heck, there could be collectors out there who feel I do not bring anything worthwhile to the boards or do not have the card knowledge to be a recognized authority. My collection is most likely on par with the average collector on these boards. I put a great deal of effort into my collection. I am passionate and I have fun. I am here to meet new people and to learn - I have accomplished both, and several people I have had the honor to meet and call my friend.

Business dealings should be kept in private. There is not a need to let anyone know of business strategies either. If someone has the power to have dealers constantly check his sets and find cards to fit his needs, so be it. More power to him. But to demand it, inform us of guaranteed repurcussions if he is disobeyed or a dealer lists items on eBay without consulting him first, is ridiculous. And doing so with such a bombastic nature is too much to take for many on this board- at least to a small timer like myself.

  • 1420,
Awesome Icon, dude! I nee to get me one of the crimson "p" hats from the 70's & early 80's. Where can I get a nice 7 3/8 fitted Phillies cap...I'll try eBay from time to time but the only time I find one a rapper with questionable feedback is selling it...
By the way, go to goodsportsart.com and check out the Goff print "80 Phillies..." It's awesome and a must for any 1980 Phillies fan.

Here's a little story about good ole pc...

I had the unfortunate opportunity to play fantasy baseball with him this past season...After about a month or so of him "ringing his own bell" about how great his team was, I called him out on it. Next message he posted was daring me to bet him $25,000 that he could beat me in the league. I guess that was his way of showing that with all of his "money & power" he couldnt be beaten in fantasy baseball. After taking him up on his bet, and asking which "Escrow" service he would like to place the funds in, he backed out.

By the time August rolled around, he was fighting for 10th place(in a 10 team league). So what did Mr. PC do? He waived his entire team and quit the league...Last i saw him he was running away with his tail between his legs...

I've held back on saying anything before now, but this guys "high and mighty" attitude and his insistence on attacking other guys on this board is just ridiculous.

He who lives in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...I vote PC Off the island...

I'm here to question, not to inspire or build up. To live how I want, as I see fit,
according to my values and my needs. Nothing holds dominion over me, I stand alone as the ruler of my life.
  • I played fantasy baseball w both JasP and PC and while I didnt agree with PCs decision to quit, I can say that JasP gave a lot a people in the league a hard time and made it less than the enjoyable experience PC probably expected it to be (though I personally like getting riled up in fantasy by my competitors).

Regardless, PC is a class act...I have visited with his family at his home where he graciously hosted me while I was out visiting a friend in LA. He has a wonderful wife and two lovely children, not to mention a great card collection. He is an asset to the hobby and a good friend.

I have only dealt with PC on a couple of ebay transactions. PC is honest and straightforward. Couldn't ask more from a trading card dealer. (Perhaps Davalillo may even include PC in his top ten dealer list one day.)

As far as Davalillo, his posts used to remind my eleven year old sister when she did not get her way. After my sister does not get her way with one parent she would appeal to the other parent. Davalillo did the same when he could not get support on this forum; he took all of his grievances about PSA and aired them instead on the SGC forum. That was quite a few months ago and upon his return to this forum, the whining has decreased so Davalillo is fine as well.

PC- You are in luck. There might be room for one in Davalillo's stable of dealers who kiss his a**. Jay has just been kicked out because he listed cards on ebay rather than call the great Davalillo so this is your chance. Koby
