10 dollars for S&H on 20-30$ cards?

Why does Legacysportsrarities charge so much. I saw some 1958 psa 8 commons I need, but to pay 10$ S&H for a 25-30 dollar card is unreasonable.
Are we at a point where are dealers making money mainly on handling fees?

Burns me up too.....
I try to check as much of the eBay ad as possible....High shipping charges, Qualifiers that aren't listed in the header, "Cash only" deals, PSA when it's not, etc.... I've made myself go through this little "mental" checklist on eBay. It's helped on a few deals...
Check it out, see something I don't like....I pass on the auction....
(I've also made a few boo boo's too......)

CHEERS!!
to buy what appear to be quality low priced items is a plus for everyone.
they wouldn't charge you 10.00 for a 20.00 card.you have anywhere from
7-10 days to call and ask before their auctions end.the guy is among the
top dealers in the world of sportscards.give him credit.his feedback is
perfect too.go bellyache over an issue that you've given some thought
instead of posting a complaint without having done your share.it takes
less time to email and it is free.try it!.
hey King-you know better.
That said, I do have issues with some sellers (Bob Lins - fairway54 comes to mind) that charge $5.00 s&h and send the card in an uninsured bubble mailer with $0.60 postage. I will still buy from them, however. But, I always take the s&h charges into account before setting my snipe.
JEB.
and shipping/handling/insurance pricing wasn't that off the wall. $10.00 for airborne express or $6.00 for ground service. Orders over $1000.00 no shipping fee. And like you said regardless if the s/h/i is high or low, bid according w/ that in mind...jay

A) Charge way too much for shipping
Spam their auctions with PSA/SGC/BGS when they sell ungraded cards
C) Don't combine shipping charges and you wind up paying $15 for shipping for 3 cards
D) Don't list the OC's and the PD's in their title so you wind up wasting time looking at useless auctions
E) Trims or alters cards themselves
I'm sure there is other things that I have missed
All of these are people trying to rip off somebody else and we should not tolerate it. If the local supermarket treated people this way, nobody would shop there and they would go out of business eventually. Customer service has got to matter to us at some point. We need to make a "Black Book" for dealers so that any of them who care about sales will not want to be on that list. A combined effort from all of us will be the only way that some dealers will stop.
I wouldn't think of posting a complaint without having done my share. Hmmmm....OK....I have 2933 POSITIVE transactions on eBay without a single neutral OR negative. I'm a buyer as much as I'm a seller. Even have one of those nifty "Power Seller" icons...IMHO, $10.00 s/h for ANY card on eBay is too much....... Just my opinion that all...Sellers can charge whatever they want for s/h as long as it's stated in their description. Fair game then....Buyer and seller understand it together. I charge $2.90 for bubble/ship with USPS Delivery confirmation. Why?? Because that's what I think is fair. LegacySportsRariety charges what they think is fair also.
The thread started as a concern for $10.00 s/h on a $25 - $30 item. Really, the cost of shipping has nothing to do with the final hammer price of the auction. Turn it the other way...What if the auction hard core bidders get into a "ego war" and those same '58 commons become $1000.00 items...Does that make a $10.00 s/h/fee OK then??? Of course not.
"hey KING-you know better"
Yeah...I guess I do.
Thanks for thinking of me.
Happy Holidays!

And when I sell, I ususally charge $1.50 to $2.00, so as not to discourage bidders.
Of the things Wabitt mentioned, B, D, and E are serious problems in my book. C is annoying, but not really a problem if the seller discloses it up front (and if the seller has a lot of low value items may be a necessity for him to make money - I almost felt bad for one seller who started his items at a penny and has $.50 shipping for each item after the first one when I won several cards from him at opening bid). A is annoying, but not really a problem if the seller discloses it up front. I just figure both A and C into my bidding.

Legacy is one of the finest in my book. They are pleasant on the phone, and immediate with shipping which is via FEDEX by the way. The cards are secured and you have insurance and a tracking number. Their merchandise is some of the finest I have seen anywhere.
I will grant that $10 is a lot for a single $20 card but Legacy is not aimed at people who buy single $20-30 cards. Buy 10-15 of them and the shipping is a bargain. Buy a $450 card from them and the shipping is reasonable.
Merry Christmas.

PS. Great Card JEB!
On my auctions, I charge $4.00 (and no more if a person wins multiple auctions) and ship USPS Priority. Insurance is $2.00 optional regardless of the cost of the card. I eat a few bucks sometimes but appreciate the buyers bidding higher on expensive cards.
Have a great Holiday Season!!!
