Who Is The Kansas City Samaritan??

Just caught a clip on FoxNews, where they reported, in fair and balanced fashion, as always, a Salvation Army collection post received a gold coin dropped in one of their bell ringing buckets in Kansas City.

The gold coin - reported as being from South Africa - Kruggerrand was found at the bank when they were counting the proceeds.

The more interesting part of the story being that this is the 15th consecutive year they have received a gold coin.

So who is the big hearted Kansas City collector?

  • Happens all over every year and always gets reported as something unusual. It might be interesting to contact the Salvation Army headquarters and see if they would tell you just how many gold coins they've gotten so far. I know I've seen reports from Chicago, Louisville, Gettysberg, Fort Wayne and now Kansas City and I'm sure there are many more that haven't made the news. This was the first year that it has happened in Fort Wayne but the others are repeaters.
  • They get many of these every year around here.
  • I guess I need to get out more.
