PSA grades a trimmed card and labels it as such

PSA graded authentic and labeled trimmed

I saw this card mentioned on the Network 54 board.

I must say that I can only think of a couple of cards that I have seen encased like this. This is a great way to handle cards that are trimmed.

There are so many (Pre-war especially) trimmed raw cards floating around on ebay, that if PSA encased every card that they checked and found to be trimmed, this way, that it would reduce the likelihood that people would get ripped off on ebay.

I hope PSA makes this type of service standard and encases EVERY card they grade "trimmed" in such a manner.

If they did so, they could even create a secondary market for such cards.

I hope this is a trend that continues- it is long overdue.

  • this is a great idea
  • I hope the ball keeps rolling with this out of the PSA house. I believe there are a lot of vintage collectors out there that first worry about if the card is authentic and second what grade the card gets or if its trimmed. This fits the bill perfectly.

  • It is certainly long overdue.I hope the powers that be are reading this thread.I would agree with mrc32 that this would create a definite market. In time it may even rival the legitamite card market as I can foresee high dollar trimmed cards becoming affordable when slabbed and notated as such. This is definately an opportunity for PSA to become a pioneer and would be a real revenue generating direction for them to take.

  • here`s one, but it is being called handcut , rare numbered version
  • Speeder-
That one is a little different.

Hand Cut = card that was cut out for collectability purposes (think Post Cereal or Hostess)
Trimmed = card that was either cut badly at the factory or trimmed to deceive.

Yes it is a good idea. However, what about all the cards I've gotten back from PSA "Unholdered. Trimmed" I forfeited my grading fee and have a raw card now. PSA...please be consistent. If this is the new policy, let us know officially and make good on all the cards previously returned and not encapsulated!

  • I think this is a good idea as well, but would PSA slab *all* trimmed cards? What if I submitted a 1980 Topps common and for one reason or another it is believed to be trimmed. Would they slab it? Or would they mark it MC? I think there should be an option on the invoice like "slab all questionable cards" or something to that nature.

    trimmed?
    doesn't look trimmed to me.
    cut yes,but not trimmed.a trimmed
card is meant to deceive.meanwhile psa
keeps the grading fee.took them long enough
to figure that one out and it should be great
    for the hobby/business.

  • Could a card graded as such be entered into the registry? What kind of weight would it carry if so, zero? This is good though, I like it and it is long overdue for many vintage issues commonly found trimmed or altered. There will still be those who might crack some out to submit to PRO or Beckett but these are the people already submitting those kinds of cards that get bounced by PSA.
