Ran across my first 72 type II Ike

I recieved a 72 Ike today from the bay of E for my collection. Took it out and started my inspection and noticed no dings, clean fields, nice strike, no scratches across Ike's face ( I have gotten some blue Ikes that were pretty rough) and it was a type II. I was very happy!! Even thought it is a 72-S type II blue Ike I'm still happy 'cause I didn't have any type II's up until nowimage

  • Hate to rain on your parade, but all 1972-S have a Type 2 reverse.

It's only the 1972-P (no mintmark) date that is found with different reverse varieties (Type 1, 2, and 3).
  • By the way, for handy real-life examples... take a look at these uncirculated "blue pack" Ikes:

    All 1971-S = Type 1
    All 1972-S = Type 2
    All 1973-S = Type 3

Wow, you had my attention there for a minute...image

I just purchased another three type IIs from a board member. I don't think you can have too many of theseimage
