Liteside-ish post. Got grades. Slabaphobics please ignore

Went out Christmas shopping with Mrs. ajaan this morning. First time I've been out shopping this Season. Very crowded. When we got home I had a package from ICG waiting for me. Why ICG? I like their Ancient and British grading standards. The coins are grades:

(3) Roman coins mentioned in a seperate thread
1723 British shilling SSC AU58
1757 Gr. Br. 6p AU58
1902-B Trade Dollar MS62
1671 Crown F12

Also had two body bagged Roman coins that I disagree with. I'll take them to FUN and 'complain'.

Why on earth would they bodybag Romans? Authenticity or otherwise?

One was BB'd for 'environmental damage', the other for 'other'.

Envrionmental damage on a coin that was buried for 1700+ years? I refuse to believe it.

Ask them if they'll take this one back then:

Josh, outstanding link! An article like that with good pictures is invaluable to someone like me in understanding what to look for in cases like this. Thanks for posting it!

Another common criticism is the lack of expertise possessed by those who are grading and authenticating these ancient coins.

Is there a lack of highly qualified graders in Ancients? It also seems to me it would be much more expensive to attribute and grade an ancient (other than common pieces) than any other type of coin due to the extreme age, condition and the potential research involved.
I can't believe they would use the 1-70 scale for grading; it seems entirely inappropriate.

Ajaan, we're not Slabaphobics; I myself would not be against accepting any slabbed coin that you own.image

I am unable to comment on the ancients, however, the other results seem to be good... what does the 1671 Crown look like?

The reverse looks a lot better than fine to me.
