Will the graders be kind before Christmas????

Sent my first bunch of coins out to PCGS last Friday, Registered, insured, etc. They arrived at PCGS at 8:00am this morning (Thursday). I am the least superstitious person, I don't claim to believe in luck, but I can't help but wish for a little luck in hoping that the grading room people are having a really good day when they get my coins. Anyone have any idea when they might hit the grading room floor next week? I sent them out $50 express special....7 day. Methinks the best day might be the day before Christmas. Psychology of Graders 101. Any thoughts?

Instead of wishing, do something that actually works: Pray to the Lord. That can, and often does, work.

They are all in a foul mood right now because they get no time off for the holidays. You're screwed.

How about we just hope they can be fair across the board and grade the coins using the same grading scale every day. That would solve a lot of issues.

CC...that depends on what side of the bed they awaken each morning

I will guess they will be graded on Monday and the grades will post on Tuesday.

I agree.....they are human after all. Considering how little time they spend on each coin, and how many coins they see in a day I think a meaningful portion of the grade +/- one grade can sometimes be determined by the mood of the graders. Does anyone think that they spend more time and therefore theoretically achieve a higher degree of `accuracy' when grading less common/more valuable coins, or do they all look the same to someone who spends all day looking a coins.

I wonder if HRH has graphs showing what their average grade by month, or day of the week is......I bet he does........and would never admit it........

I think it's not a matter of anyone being in a good or generous mood, it's a matter of which grading team is working this week, or quarter, or whatever.

If you notice, they seem to get tighter or more relaxed about every 3 months or so, or sometimes it's every 6 months. I believe this sudden 'change' represents which grading team is looking at the coins at any given time, as some are clearly more conservative than others.

I was told early on as a teenager , twenty some years ago, that there is no Santa Claus in numismatics. For the most part its true.
