    I wonder if that's a salvage coin. Chances are, by far, that it is. However, I can't see the usual corrosion on it. Perhaps that's why the scans are so small. Also, it is hard to believe that the color is original.

    Vern, yours looks great. I've only seen slightly corroded ones come from the wreck.

    The handwriting on that coins appears to be that of Bob Armstrong, one of the leading Canadian graders IMO. Bob is also a very nice guy, I met him at the CAND Show in Toronto a couple yeard back. That is a Gatewest coin isn't it? What's the auction start price?

    I knew it was gatewestcoin by the handwriting as well. I notice on some of his 2x2's there's a lot of overpricing but he usually, like this auction, starts the bidding well bellow that.

    It also looks like he scans his coins which renders ANY luster at all flat and not very apparent.

    I spent 1/10 of his opening price on my X cash. His *might* be a better strike but they sat in the kegs the same amount of time... image

    That's not a slam on gatewestcoin though. I've bought a lot from them, including the rarest British medal I own. Only about 5 of these struck and I got mine for about $25.
