Beautiful Morgan!!!

Hey, my name is George, I'm a fairly new coin collector, and brand new to the boards. Anyways, I was surfing EBay, and I saw this Proof Morgan and about fell out of my seat, I was just mesmerized by how awesome it looked! Of course this is WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY out of my income bracket, which is really not a lot, just what I can weasel my parents out of =D. I love Silver Coins, though I'm more into Mercurys than Morgans (A lot cheaper and better suited to the poor high school student =D), but I thought this Morgan just looked so nice.

Outstanding coin. That Ebay seller 'flowinghair' is also a forum member here.

  • George...you have a good eye. Don't lose your interest in Morgans. I got my first one as a raffle prize when I was a poor high school student...and after picking up the hobby again about 3 years ago (after over 20 years), I have finally finished a business strike set of Morgans.

Really nice!! A guy can dream...
  • It was that nice Mercury that's in my sig that really got me going, and talking to Dan Moore (Working Man's Coins), in the direction of silver coins in general and Mercury's in particular. That Merc was my first coin I bought that was more than $20 and since have gotten 2 nice looking UNC Morgans, of course they don't compare to that beauty proof...

Hi George, welcome to the boards!

I'm a bit past my high school days but had been dreaming of owning a proof Morgan since then, finally a couple of years ago, located one that had the "right" combination of looks and price, for me:

With a little stretching and selling a few duplicates, I was able to afford the coin, which came in this holder:

upon close examination, there are light hairlines in the fields, but then again, such a coin costs about 2% of the price of the nearly perfect one you posted. image

  • You can buy a silver round that looks just that for about 8 bucks

  • Hey George, Nice pic, I too was impressed by what I saw. Who wouldn't want a coin like that, but in the meantime keep collecting the mercs. They (mercs) offer a lot at a low cost. Jim
  • Outstanding! I didn't think morgans could look so good.
  • Wow, this is a really fabulous coin!

Maybe I'll find it in my stocking this year.
