David,

I recently sent in a group of coins. Included was a 1986-W G$5. It came back PR69DC. I thought the coin was flawless and had a chance at 70. When I saw the grade posted I was fine with 69 because I know there could have been some very small mark that I missed.

I am really sad. The coin came back with pinkish/orangeish splotches. What happened--the coin was perfect when I sent it in? I use special 2 1/2" sq INERT Kointainers (the same kind Russ uses). Can anything be done. The coin was georgeous, and now it just looks plain bad.

Thanks,
Tony

    Tony,

Not sure what could have happened. Sometimes on new issues the coin will change color slightly when it is first exposed to air outside of the government issue holder. Send the coin to ma nad I'll take a look.
