Yep another common coin but this one I do not know what I have. Any info?

Is there any chance this is a proof coin? The surfaces look like mirrors.

The surfaces are mirror. You can't tell it from me photo but it is very bright and clear.

So it could very well be an impaired proof--one that got into circulation. Unless, of course, no proofs were made of this type.

I enjoy Nepalese coins; I particularly like the Bir Bikram 2 mohars from 1911-32. I've got a couple of 25 rupees from the early 70's that toned a little dark and their design strikes the eye as a very old coin, although they're not.

The surfaces look like mirrors.

If they're real shiny it could be stainless steel instead of Co-Ni...

Actually, it's dated VS2045 (AD1988) and is stainless steel, KM-1018.1 with a mintage of 7.35 million, .50 Unc, no Proof listed but that doesn't mean they might not exist.

For some reason, I think stainless steel makes an interesting coin metal.

I think you are right Brad. It is very "shiny". It does not feel very heavy in hand so I am surprised it is SS
