1940 Ireland Penny

I just bought this coin. I don't know if I got a good deal or not, since it has pitting/corrosion. Still, I like the Irish coins with animals.

I know a dealer with a few middle grade ones.... The thing is they start to get really difficult in higher grades with original red. 0John0 had a link to an Irish coin site which explains it well... Hang on here it is:

I know the site well I am always checking it. My family in Ireland is always sending me coins but none have given up a 1940 penn yet..... ingrates

Too bad for you it wasn't an 1840 penny, as the seller stated twice on the auction.

I remember my first 1940 Irish Penny fondly. An AU53 I got from LordM in a giveaway. Thanks again, Rob!!
