1967 Canada Mint Set

Here's another recent purchase. Did I do well on price? I have no idea. Would it be worth it to break it up and submit the coins to a slabbing service?

I love those coins! They've got great designs and they're CHEAP!

Unless you've gone through hundreds of sets and selected the best of them, it probably isn't worth sending the
coins in for certification. Even with the economy service you're looking at $15 per coin plus shipping and insurance.

  • Hetman, Two nice sets, I like the 1967 CN Commem series, nice set.

By the way welcome to the darkside.

Not sure of your intent of slabbing the set, if they are of high grade they may demand a premium in resale if that were your intent. Not sure if the 11-15 dollar per coin cost would warrant it or not. Kinda a personal decision. I have slabbed quite a few of my better GB coins both for preservation and protection at the present time. But it would also be easier to sell at a fair but better price in the future if so inclined.

I own a couple of nice GB proof sets I have contemplacted slabbing but for now they reside in their original cases. I am considering air-tites for them just to protect them.

Alot of it is a personal choice, I am not that familiar with CN values versus cost of slabbing, if the sets are common, and I suspect they are, then you could have a long wait until you could get your money back if that were a concern. I do know people who have spent $12.00 slabbing a $4.00 coin, becuase it was a nice one, they want to protect it, and it was a personal choice not focused towards near term financial gain.

On the flip side I would refuse to pay $1,200.00 for a slabbed PR-69 modern sliver eagle, but some folks do.

Man that was alot of rambling and probably of little help.....image
