Woo Hoo I finally made page 1 on my proof Jeffersons

I'll tell you, you guys are tough. After close to a year I finally made it to page 1 on my early proof Jeffersons. I never thought I'd have to complete the whole set to make it. I obviously have some upgrades still to make but I hope to inch up the list slowly before the wife finds out I'm saving them and makes me sell them (yup you guessed it, the wife is not supportive as far as collecting goes, she just wants me to sell coins). And don't worry, I don't planning on making #1 but I would like to get into the top 10 at sometime (just don't tell my wife).

Congratulations, Jared! It indeed is getting harder and harder to get on the first page: this is a major accomplishment. Best of luck on acquiring the hard-to-get coins that will keep you moving up.image

  • Congratulations! I think you are doing it the hard (but fun) way by making the coins yourself. That really is quite an accomplishment.
  • Ouch! You moved me back to number 19. Congratulations on a very nice set and accomplishment....I can see that's been alot of work.
I never thought I would see the top 20 plus on the proof page be 100%. Life is good................

  • Your right, it has been tough making them. They are getting very hard to find raw, at least nice ones. I keeps sending more in but at best they just tie the one I've got in my set grrrr. It's gonna be tough to upgrade some of them that's for sure. I even made a 1951 in PR67CAM last week but it didn't upgrade my set so I had to put it up on ebay to finance some more raw ones. Hopefully I can upgrade one here and there given time.
  • Congrats on making Page 1! imageimageimage ! It's nice to see some action on the pageimage Good luck with the upgrades - lately they seem too few and far between, at least for me.

Congrats, Jared, for making the front page and doing it yourself the raw way! You've made some excellent coins. Time was in Jeff proofs it was easy to make the front page ... interest has increased markedly in the last 18 months. I agree it is becoming more difficult to find promising proofs. I'm getting a submission ready to go, but it has been a month since I found a Jeff proof I thought worth buying. At any rate, welcome to the front page and keep up the good fight -- and hunt. image

I'm impressed that you have the patience to make the coins yourself. You must have had to look at a heck of a lot of sets to find them.

The Jeffs have attracted more attention with new designs coming. If we have permanent new designs in 2006 and the Schlag designs become a closed series, there will be a lot of people scrambling to find high grade Jeffs. MS coins with full steps are a real challenge, but I sure like the look of a cameo Jefferson.
