Refund for trimmed card...

I received a 'Evid Trimmed' on a 1952 Bowman Small FB recently, and I emailed the person who sold it to me and said that I was disappointed. I mentioned that his listing said it was very gradeable and would likely net an 8 or possibly a 9.
My hopes when I purchased it was to get a 7, since I'm very slowly starting out on a 7 set.
He said that he would provide a refund if I send him all the psa documents.
I offered to send the card which is still in the top loader and has the PSA stickers specifying the card and ''Evid Trimming" and the packing slip from psa and a copy of the on line grades.
He then said he'd need the envelop from psa and my submission form.
In short, is there a reason for all of the above? Wouldn't the card with the Evid Trimming be normally sufficient. Perhaps you could enlighten me.
I am very pleased that he is offering a refund, but I can't figure out the angle on all the paperwork.

I think you should just make a copy and send it - don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

unless this is a big star and it has been a long time since you bought it, it looks to me like your seller is looking for a way to wiggle out of a $20 refund.

please PM me this sellers ID so I can avoid, I too have recently launched into '52 small, so we may need to chat anyways.

I think he wants to prove that it was sent under you name ? It couldnt hurt to send a copy.

    Thanks all for the input.
I am certainly happy that he said he'd refund, as its been about 3 months (Van Buren $34) since I bought it.
I guess Boggs makes the best point about making sure the submission was in my name, but that was on the packing slip and results I offered to send already. He must have gotten burned somewhere before.
Murcer - I'm really just getting started and only have '2' cards, #77 an #144. I think the seller is cooperative, but cautious. He just apologized for asking for the envelope (which doesn't exist).

The seller does not have to send a refund - it is very cool that he is doing so.

From what I understand, the card was listed as to what the seller thought the grade would be ... that is why I think that this is a gift horse

  • Leave it to murcerfan to say someone is corrupt. Murcerfan has probably attempted this same wiggling himself. What I would be worried about is this person having your psa member nimber and your member information. He can then use your account. He may have known it was trimmed and will try to resubmit trimmed cards in your name. Show him a link to the psa sight bearing your invoice number. He doesn't need anything else from you. If you send the invoice, it could end up costing you more than what the card cost you.

Anyone want my member number so they can submit trimmed cards and pay PSA for the privilege of doing so? I don't see much of value that someone could get by having my member number. PSA would still need the submitter to pay them for each card submitted. I guess they could always change the address where the SMR gets delivered several weeks late.

Oh, by the way, Apu, it was so nice of you to slip up on another thread and admit you collected vintage hockey. image

  • Apu? slip up? Did your presciption run out on your medication nicholeM?
  • Knowingly submitting cards that have been altered is a form of fraud, and the holder of the account is responsible for what happens to his her account.

Awww, look, I got the eBay scammer upset.
For everyone who missed the earlier thread, he's Apu, because when he tries to put more than 2 sentences together, he sounds like Apu from Kwik-E-Mart.
