    You're too humble, as usual.

You've advanced well beyond me on the photography learning curve.

I'm still stuck in scannerland... image

  • You are too gernerous Rob. Your scans I think are very, very good.

Once I do get a camera that will take pics as good as the ones you've posted, I will be a pest and begin posting lots of pictures.

My laptop that I do all my coin biz on just croaked, though, so first I must tend to that. Don't EVER buy a Toshiba laptop. Mine has been a lemon from day one. (Maybe they are good and mine is just a solitary lemon in the basket, but I doubt it- I've heard other people talk about having the same problems as I did.) And mine is barely a year and a half old. image

So now I guess I need a (simple, bare-bones) new laptop for doing word processing and scanning (I never even connected mine to the Internet in the last several months). After I get that, I can work on the camera.

  • Rob, I don't have the most elite camera around and the camera has more options than this old feller can work out. It is a CoolPx995 and I think a good camera. My biggest problem is getting the lighting correct.
As you can see from my photos I don't get it correct very often......image

  • Wayne - another great group - that 20 cent piece looks almost uncirculated. Those are neat coins.

  • The 20c is close to UNC but the strike on the 53 and 61 is a lot better, very stronge amd looks better in hand.

I think the reverses on those are similar, if not identical, to those on the earlier Victorian-era coins issued for the Straits Settlements, and also cataloged under Malaysia?

Which reminded me to post the list of the new collection I'm going after- it'll include some 1901 Malaysia/Straits Settlements pieces...

  • The old ones from there have a cool ship at the coat of arms, wayne! Look at recent Jester's coin!

  • Wayne,

Those are pretty nice shots, I wouldn't be too critical of them. Some of mine are better than others. I am not consistent yet....
  • they are not to bad really. I am sure I couldn't do any better!

Yes, that would be the money they used before the country officially became Malaysia. Singapore declared its independence in 1965 and started to use its own coinage a bit later on. British Borneo is modern day Sarawak and Sabah, as well as Brunei.
