Unfair feedback?

Someone left this feedback for Aethelred.

<< <i>Neutral : Decent item quality, very porr shipping (> 2wks) >>

I will say the poor spelling is due to a typo, but the auction ended Nov. 30. The feedback was posted Dec 13. This is > 2wks????

Not a well thought out response... Aethelred deserves better.

  • I know what my response would be if I were Aethelred -- just what you wrote here.

That blows!!! Why give a neutral? That's an unprovoked retaliatory?? And it mars his perfect record. Some people are such imbeciles.

I see someone gave him an "OK" also, but at least it was a positive.

That's life in ebay. I got shafted by a bad buyer a year back. Claimed he couldn't access a computer but was bidding and leaving feedback.

Aethelred's buyer apparently doesn't understand about mailing and the Christmas season.

I am not worried about that feedback (although I'd rather not have it). I responded that I got the payment on 02 December and mailed the item on 08 December.

If the guy had stated that he was not happy with the shipping time I would have refunded his postage, but he is SOL now!

Thanks everyone for the support, kindness and faith that you have in me!image

Full moon rising! Face it! Some people are chowderheads, and could care less if they mess with your rating. I went 6 years without a neg and then, bang; two in a few month period. The first idjit didn't possess the common sense to email me to complain or ask for restitution, they just left the neg. The second was simply a jackass playing games by bidding on 'this and that'. Even though they are now NARU, eBay will not remove the negative.......in this case, eBay is a bunch of idjits.

  • Notice that the person who left the neutral feedback is relatively new to E-bay. I suspect that has something to do with it.
Wanted: High grade Irish (Republic of Ireland, not Northern Ireland or British) coins, slabbed and unslabbed. Also looking for Proof and Uncirculated Sets

Faith, right that was a bit strong!image

I I shipped things like I am sometimes known to do, and as Rob sometimes does, he would have given me a "Burn in Hell" feedback rating.image

I never really liked the ebay rating system much. I would much rather prefer if people just gave neutral for okay transactions, positives for good transactions, and negatives for bad ones. Perhaps this guy thinks that way.

That is sort of how I view this. I don't see any venom in his remark, just that he was not happy with the shipping time. I guess that is why I am not very upset about this.

Does anybody know what are eBay's requirements in order to remove a neg? Is it possible to ask for mutual removal if both parties have changed their minds?

Too bad you already left positive feedback! However, that does show your integrity as a seller, leaving feedback upon payment and not waiting for the buyer's feedback.

Dimitri, I do believe that a negative can be removed through Square Trade with mutual agreement by both parties.

Your response was fair and levelheaded and showed him up for the impatient @$$hole that he is, without any counterproductive whining on your part.

Law of averages- you're gonna cross somebody sooner or later, who's a jerk.

I got my one neutral (as a buyer, not a seller) the same week I got my turquoise star for 100 feedbacks. Still no negs, thank goodness.

The feedback forum is flawed, but better that than nothing at all, I suppose.

  • What a jerk. I've seen worse though.

There's this guy who never paid for his item and left feedback:

The feedback system is a disaster.

    Problem #1
The biggest lie is the number of praises people get, and they're all the same:

    "An asset to ebay."

    "Smooth transaction."

    "Fast payment."

    "Will deal with again.'

My hypothesis is that NOBODY reads these asinine "praises." Who cares if you get a million of these fatuous comments?

    Problem #2
    Fear of the retaliatory negative.

This drives the behaviour of almost everyone who posts here and everyone who trades on ebay. No one wants to file a legitimate complaint because of the revenge factor and the worry that their pristine ebay rating will be shattered. Guess what - there are enough a-h's within ebay that eventually the pristine record will be killed - it's only a matter of time. So why not file the complaints when they are merited?

    Problem #3
The "wait 'till I get feedback" seller.

This causes problem #2. No buyer ever wants to get a neg from a bad seller.

This is my standard positive feedback line, with proper adjustments for the item type:

Great coin, great price, fast and friendly service! MANY THANKS!!
    ..that, or:
Crisp note, pleasant service, speedy delivery, great price! EXCELLENT!!

I can't stand the "AAA+++++++" and crap like that.

I'm thinking about dropping the "friendly" bit for people that wait until I rate them though.. imageimage
