Question about marking package for submission.

I just sent out a 17 card submission under the current Set Registry Special ($10 - 5 day turnaround) today. A few hours after I mailed the package, I remembered that, in my rush to get it to the PO before it closed, I forgot to mark the service level on the outside of the package.

Has anyone else forgotten to do this? Has it had any effect on the time it takes to have the submission show up as "received"?

I can just imagine my package sitting there for a month before being opened because of this simple oversight. image

Wow, that would suck. I've never done this but I hope that PSA would have to sense to at least open the package and see what it is. I wish you well on you submission. I know how the wait can be to see what you got on certain cards.

Jeb, I forget to do that all the time. I always have 10 other things on my mind all the time and that isn't high on my priority list. I always use the $6 bulk rate which is 45 days. I almost always receive my package within around 20 business days so it has never affected my turnaround, but it might be different with a 5 day deal. I'm sure that they wouldn't be responsible for the free grades if it does take longer though, but I'm just guessing.

Several times I've forgotten to do this too! But still every submission lot was done within the time frame.
More importantly, what cards did you submit, some boxing perhaps? Mr Stargell? - ? ..jay

Thanks for the reassuring comments. To answer your question Jay, most were Stargell cards. I held off on the boxing for now, but I have acquired a few more PSA 7s. I plan to submit about 10-20 in the next month or so. This submission was a last minute thing today, thus the omission of the marking of the package. image

I'll keep you informed about the submission.

Good luck w/ all your PSA-10's image ...jay
  • Oh yeah, forgot to mention - my last bulk submission took 39 calendar days and I did mark the package correctly:

    Received - 10/9
    Grades Posted - 11/17

I should mention that many of the cards on this 152 card submission were the first ever graded. I'm sure that caused some delay, as may my submission that I sent today.

    Jay,

I seriously doubt it on this one. In fact, I'll be happy with 7s on a few of these. image

Maybe 1 PSA 10, but I won't hold my breath.

    Virtualizard,

Which Stargells did you send in? I just got some back: 1964 Venezuelan 5(very nice) and a 9 on a 71 Kelloggs. I did have a 68 OPC come back not graded for not meeting size requirements. I have 3 other 68 OPC Stargells that are all short on the bottom from the factory. Any advice? Also, does it cost anything extra to grade the 74 Deckle Edge? I've got a sweet one.
  • I have never graded a '68 OPC so I can't help you there. There is no additional cost to grade the Deckle Edge. Great job on the '64 Venezuelan - post a scan if you can. If you want to sell it (or trade) let me know.

As for what I sent - 4 OPC and a lot of 60's oddballs as well as a few other players. 3 Venezuelans on this submission. I'm curious to see how they do.

BTW, why haven't you registered your set?

Were the Venezuelans Stargells? Haven,t registered because I'm lazy. Will do so soon. I've got some more Stargell Venezuelans to send but I'm still trying to feel them out. I've got a couple nice 66's so they'll be next. I'm what you would call a hoarder. One of the tough cards is not enough, I'll buy as many as I can. My wife thinks it is quite comical that I would buy 40 1972 OPC Stargells for example( it was a bargain-40 of #447 and 25 of #448 for $125, could not pass it up!!). Oh well, those are problems for the shrink.

1 of the Venezuelans was a Stargell. Let me know about some of those OPC cards - I still need a few. I submitted the '72 OPC #343 and #447 on this submission as well - not expecting high grades on these, though.

Please mark on the submission form and the outside of your package DECEMBER CC SPECIAL Unmarked packages may not qualify for guaranteed service.

Unmarked packages may not qualify for guaranteed service
  • JEB,
On the special site that you used, no mention of the box's outside having to be marked. Only for the CC special that Carlos added to his post.
You may be ok with your submission. I'm only speculating on this because you mentioned baseball. The other special is for Basketball and Football only...
    Good luck,

  • To be honest,

I never and have never marked my packages with the service level on the package. I always forget about that part, but I've not once had a problem.

  • All packages must be marked regardless of the type of service. It's right on the submission form - check one out if you have one available or check the online form.

In the Shipping Instructions section look at number 7 -

"To validate the guaranteed services, the name of the service MUST be clearly marked on the outside of the package. Due to the volume of packages that we receive, we also require that you indicate the type of service desired on the outside of the package for all other services. This will help expedite the process of your order."

I guess I'll just have to wait to see what happens.

I sent in an order (33 cards) on the $10 / 5 day special and I forgot to write the details on the box. I sent it registered mail on Saturday November 28th, and it was logged as received on Wednesday December 3rd. I received the grades on 12/9.
I also sent in the same box an order for the basketball special (72 cards) and received the grades on 12/11 (very quick).

  • Thanks.

That's the answer I was looking for.
