LordM's "Thank You to NEN and Happy New Year to Everyone Else" Giveaway (Steve27 wins!)

I recently had the good fortune to win a giveaway for the first time in a long time. It was Northeast Numismatics' generous giveaway of a toned MS63 1800 Maundy penny, but perhaps I should not have entered, since it was supposed to be closed to dealers and I am a part-time dealer.
Therefore, as promised, I am doing a spinoff giveaway of equal value, to avoid profiting unfairly on their giveaway.
The winner of my giveaway will receive an assortment of world coins in 2X2's, including some silver and some from the 1800's. Maybe even an ancient coin or two, who knows? This is another LordM "mystery" giveaway. The coins will also be in either 20-pocket binder pages or a new, black vinyl 80-pocket coin stock book, and I will do my utmost do insure a good mixture.
My giveaway is not closed to dealers, but it may not be of particular interest to them. Most of these will be relatively inexpensive coins in the 75 cent to $1.00 range, because that is what I happen to be overstocked in, but there will be a pretty good number of them. I may also slip in one or two $2.00-5.00 coins, also. The exact number of coins the winner will receive depends on the retail value of the prize I won from NEN- at this time, I have not looked it up and do not know what it is worth. I will let them set the value. Whatever they state as the retail value of their coin will also be the approximate retail value of the assortment I am giving away.
To enter, simply post a New Year's Resolution you think you can accomplish. This is merely conversational and has no effect on the outcome of the giveaway, since the winner will be selected randomly and I have no way of checking up on your resolutions, anyway. I'll be busy enough keeping up with my own!
My resolution for 2004 is to treat my mall coin booth a little more like a real business instead of a hobby. This first year of operation has been fun, sort of "playing at" being a coin dealer, but I need to do some things in 2004. This resolution has three parts:

- 1) Get a tax number and actually pay income tax on the income. 2) Actually figure out what that income is- i.e., keep tighter bookkeeping on it- not my strong suit.3) Get insurance (I lost my two most expensive gold coins in January 2003, to a thief- ouch.)Happy holiday season to all, and may 2004 bring health, happiness and prosperity. The winner will be selected on New Year's Eve.Steve27 was the winner!

Coin related:
1. Learn to either use a camera or a scanner properly so I can start putting up pictures too.
2. Figure out a little more direction in collecting, though the 'naked guys on coins' theme seems to be interesting...
3. Stick to a budget.
Non-coin related:
1. Eat less/excercise more.
2. Be good to my kids (that includes my husband of course).
3. Be good at my job.
4. Get more organized.
5. Stick to a budget.
Kind of vague, but sometimes it works better that way
You are very welcome! Great picture! What was is like to meet him? Is he a friendly fellow?

First post on the boards! One has to make the resolutions public so you will stick with them ... and after a 3rd angioplasty I resolve to stop smoking - again.
Hopefully the money saved can go to something I enjoy even more - collecting maybe?

If you want a custom icon, today's the day, as it happens. We can only upload custom icons on the 15th of every month. So if you have a favorite coin or picture you want "iconized", shrink it or crop it down until it is 100 X 100 pixels or less, and below 10 KB in size, then save it to your computer, go to "Profile", and you'll find the upload box there. But only today. After today it disappears until January 15th.
If you need help, just post a message on the forums or send me a PM (Private Message). I see you have your PM option turned on, so apparently you know what that's all about. If I'm not online, Cosmicdebris, Darkhorse, and Aethelred are good icon gurus who can probably help you.
Of course, there's nothin' wrong with the beer-drinkin' squirrel, if you like that one.
PS- good luck on quitting the filthy habit. I hope to do that one day before the third angioplasty, but it ain't on this January's list of resolutions. I have cut back a bit, though.
Hmm...as for resolutions, I'd like to learn how to use all the functions on my digital camera for better coin pics. And, I want to finally finish my dissertation (this is my 3rd ABD yr!), especially since JamminJ & I decided on not having kids until I get the PhD!

<< <i>Hmm...as for resolutions, I'd like to learn how to use all the functions on my digital camera for better coin pics. >>
Good one. We got a digicam as a gift around LAST new year's, and when I discovered it wouldn't take good coin pics, I never bothered to learn how to learn to use it at all, really! It would be nice to have for family snapshots, anyway. Technically it's my wife's. I need to get one of my own that is coin-pic suitable. Time to graduate from the old scanner!
My second resolution is to have another coin sale at three rivers festival the one I held this year was a major sucess imho..
There I hope that is enough to get entered into your giveaway LMV

LordM, what was your digicam doing? Out of focus, too dark, inaccurate color?
I'm going to have to agree w/ MSD61, scanned coins do suck! I think it's definitely worth it to figure out all the buttons on camera.

Maybe I should quit smoking or something.
Anyway nice giveaway Lord M, and congrats on the NEN winnings

Give me a while to ship your coins, as I still have not selected the assortment yet. (This is actually in your favor, as you can suggest favorite countries or themes, and I will see what I can do there.)
