Steve: What is amazing about your Roosies sets (you have (2) open sets now) is how near perfect they would be by combining them NEARLY 2 YEARS after you stopped collecting them entirely. Interesting, your FB % increases as your coins go in for designation review.

It is great to see your set open again. You took Roosie collecting to an INCREDIBLE new height. Talk about Registry Pioneers! I seem to recall at one point you had nearly a dozen #1 or #2 ranked sets in all the different series - none better than your accomplishment for your 144 pc. Commem set for which you were awarded a Registry Hall of Fame award in the inaugural year.

Even more exciting is the fact I understand your "50 pc" Commem Collection will be auctioned off in the Heritage FUN sale. There are a dozen to fifteen coins I will have my eye on (and I am not even a serious Commem collector) as the quality overall of that collection is "to die for". Good luck to you in the FUN sale on that monumental Commem collection image

    RegistryCoin,
That is one impressive set. I can't imagine the fun and excitement you must have had putting that set together!

Thanks for opening it up so we could all take a look.

Steve has always been my hero. I have admired his Roosie set for as long as it has existed.
It was the Heller set that inspired me to build my PCGS set, mostly through crossing of my
NGC set. His set commanded so much respect. Thats what I wanted for my set. I always said,
When my set grows up I want it to be just like Steve Hellers wonderful set.
Thanks Steve for the inspiration and for opening the set up for all to enjoy.

Thank you for all your kind words. The Reg. is fun. Don't think I'm done yet...

Mitch, You know some of those words are directed at you too. I know
you played a huge part in the building of that set. As I recall the Heller
set started out as your #1 registry set, Am I not correct... Then Steve
    built it from there.

W/o Wondercoin, that set would still be in a whitman... image

I am sure the conspiracy theorists can come up with reasons why a current set should be closed, but even those reasons do not work for a "non-existent" set. I am sure that some thank you for opening your set, but for me it is like opening a coffin, sort of gruesome. You have to wonder about why you needed to keep it closed, but since you did it should stay that way.

And, there would be nothing wrong with that either image

Thanks Nick - yes, my former #1 collection merged with Steve's #3 collection back in 1999-2000 to get him started. But, Steve was as relentless back then as you have been of late in chasing down great coins and Steve's generosity, kindness and professionalism earned him first shot on many great Roosies. And, that is really the key IMHO - to not only strive to be #1 in whatever series you collect but, also, in the fortunate circunstance that you actually get there to then be an ambassador of goodwill to every other collector who "looks up" to your #1 collection in that particular series. Steve was that inveterate ambassador of goodwill, just as Nick is today. And, then, at some point you recognize it is time to "pass the baton" and permit someone else to shine as the new #1. That is what makes ROOSEVELT REGISTRY one of the finest Registry collections out there IMHO. image

Nicely said, Mitch. We can surmise that ego had nothing to do with opening the set (12th and 13th place???). I was simply asked (nicely) to open them, and so I asked BJ to do so, and she did. Thanks BJ.

I for one thank you Steve for doing so.......I've heard so much about the set that I've wanted to see for myself all the great coins. And if I recall, I also contributed one of those great coins - the first MS68 I made and the first (according to Mitch) NGC MS68 that crossed to PCGS as a MS68! I recall there were 21 or 27 MS68's back then - 1/3 to 1/2 of what exists today.

I must be missing something everyone else knows about. I don't see the set(s) listed, except the one linked. Is it listed under a different name?

The link to the larger all-time silver roosie list seems to be screwed up. I apologize.
Also, I have never been able to take pix/post pix. I sure wish I could have learned. I'm very sorry about that too! image

The 48P was discussed in another thread. I believe Mitch stated he had the coin.

    STEVE:
I remember when I bought my first PCGS Roosey Dimes.
Mitch sold me a complete PCGS set on Jan. 29, 1999.
It consisted of 20 MS67 coins, and 28 MS66 coins.
At that time you were #1, and I began to chase you. HA!!!
Eventually, in 2002, I was honored to climb into the #1 spot.
I have since fallen off the charts, but I will always remember who
was #1 when I first began my Roosey journey.
It is with much respect that I say to you:
"Thanks for inspiring me, when you didn't even know that you were".

Steve: You are misinformed - Danny is about to register a top 10 silver Wash quarter collection - a few eggs feel into another basket image

Wow, Danny, I know you'll be one heck of a player in any series you take on. Good luck with the WQs...
