PCGS received my six crossovers on October 9; grades were finally posted today. Coins #1 and #6 were NGC; the rest were ANACS.
I expected that only coin #1 would receive the same grade from PCGS as it already had. I felt the others were overgraded by at least one notch, so I made my mimimum grade stipulations accordingly:
line 1: 1895-S Morgan (NGC-08) -- min grade 08 -- DNC
line 2: 1902-O micro-O Morgan (ANACS-12) -- min grade 08 -- PCGS-10
line 3: 1887 Donkey Tail Morgan (ANACS-30) -- min grade 25 -- PCGS-25
line 4: 1888-O dbld die obv Morgan (ANACS-40) -- min grade 35 -- PCGS-35
line 5: 1899-O micro-O Morgan (ANACS-45) -- min grade 40 -- PCGS-40
line 6: 1903-S micro-S Morgan (NGC-45) -- min grade 40 -- PCGS-40
I submitted the '95-S because I'm building a grading set of that date and VG08 has been stupidly hard to locate. No, PCGS did not identify the Donkey Tail on the insert but I wanted it in the holder anyway. As for the other four... well, I like the tougher VAMs.
I guess what I learned is, I may be getting the hang of how PCGS grades circulated Morgans. I also got a booster shot of what I already knew from experience: Grading is only a matter of opinion and opinions can and do vary... and PCGS' is more stringent than NGC and ANACS.

When in doubt, don't.

The 1888-0 Hotlips is tough to grade because of the weakness of the strike...VF35 to EF45 does depend alot on preference. I like originals even though the strike may be alittle weak. Sharper struck hotlips should fetch a premium.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
I'm semi-sure they're thinking about some of the more obvious ones, and I know for a fact that a few dozen examples of various varieties have been put into his hands by a Registry member for reference and example.
But it looks like Euro Registry sets, mint sets, and whoknowswhatelse is more important to them than Morgan RPMs. I think it will happen eventually; I just hope I'm still sentient by then.
David Hall answered a question of mine on the Q & A forum this summer about new varieties, saying they would be added by the end of this year. I don't think there's any chance that will happen, however.
