My 1971 set has reached 100% !!!!

Well, after a couple of years and lots of hard work, I have finally done it. My very first
100% complete PSA set is now done. Why did I start with a black bordered monster
set like the '71s? I'm not really sure. It was a question I asked myself many times during
the journey. Now that I see the finished project, though, I'm glad I stuck with it.
The '71 baseball set registry is filled with so many great people that I have met and that
have helped me with this set. I'm sure I'd forget many of you if I tried to list everyone so
let me just bring 2 of them to the front of the stage that have to be mentioned - the 2 Franks.
Frank Bakka is one of the great people on these boards as many of you already know.
I have traded with Frank in the past and some of my mint 9 '72 cards are now in his
awesome set. I contacted him as I was nearing completion on my set. I offered to purchase
the one card that had been eluding me for months and offered to pay several times above
the SMR value. Frank not only was eager to help, but he refused to "take advantage" of my
situation and said he wanted no more than SMR. "If it will finish your set I want you to have
it. I can pick up another one later" were his words.
FabFrank is the other one that needs to be mentioned. His efforts and involvement will
never be forgotten. Being contacted and told he had a card in his set that I needed to
reach 100%, he made a special trip to his storage facility, fumbled through boxes to find
the card, and sent it right to me - as a gift!!! Well Frank, a thanks to you once again. I know
you said you wanted nothing in return but rember to cross #4 V. Davillio off your wantlist. It
will coming to you shortly.
PSA and the set registry family is filled with the most outstanding people in the world. It's
been wonderful so far and I expect it to continue for a long time to come.
Next set, 1978 Topps baseball..........

Screw 1978....finish the Goudeys!!!
watching a snail race. If I could find a couple nice NM 7's though
it might light a spark under those snails. Do you have any idea
where I might find a nice Dean and Greenberg?

I can only hope that some day I can finish this set as well! Its a beauty and a real booger at the same time! I was proud to help one of the true gentlemen of the Registry.
Sets - 1970, 1971 and 1972
Always looking for 1972 O-PEE-CHEE Baseball in PSA 9 or 10!

Great Job! That set is freaking huge....let alone the issue of condition.
Best of Luck with the 78s.

I went to the registry. Which one is yours?

Alan
Alan, my set is the "401(k) Plan". It's currently #6 but Bergen
is right behind. He just needs 2 more to pass me and become
the 3rd current set at 100%. Actually, it looks like our small
family of '71 collectors will have several members hitting 100%
in the upcoming months and throughout 2004.

CHEERS!!
I am jazzed I am nearing 20% on my '59 set but a 100% for any set is awesome. Congrats!
Jeff
I'm a few spots behind you on the '78 registry. I saw
that you listed a large lot of PSA 8's on eBay alittle
while back. If you have any extra 9's or higher drop me
a note. I'm planning to just sit and admire the '71 set
for a few weeks but after the new year, I'll start looking
for the '78s and maybe we can help each other.

Not an easy accomplishment by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm also working on this one, but I have a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go.
Good luck on the next set!

Finishing this set is going to be my goal for 2004.
It's a great set, but the best part about collecting it is meeting guys like Bill
