A Question For Those Who Sell Coins Online

From start to finish, how long does it take you to image a coin and post it to the web?
Take in to account that you are posting high end coins which are for the most part color toned.

It depends on the coin. Cameo proofs, not long, a few minutes per coin. Toned coins can sometimes take much longer because it usually takes multiple shots before I have images that I think are accurate.

If I get the image right on the first pass, with editing, (mostly just crop and resize), file naming, and uploading, maybe 5 or 6 minutes per coin.

I take multiple shots per coin, with lighting at different angles. The photography itself is very fast, but selecting the best photo, cropping, resizing, and uploading to my listing service adds time. I'd say, overall, 15 minutes per coin.

I average 3 shots per side (6 per coin) to something that is acceptable....sometimes less for cheap coins as I settle easier and sometimes 10 shots for an especially nice coin that I really want just right. Taking these pictures takes 1-2 minutes.....its bang bang bang. I use an archaic dowload mechanism thattakes approximately 45 seconds per pictures (about 500Kb each average) to download to my PC. I thenopen them in the XP phot viewer and choose the best 1 or 2 shots of each coin I want to work with. ANother few minutes. Last step is editing. Open ImageReady 2.0/Adode Photoshop 5.5 and cut, crop, a tweak a bit...another 1-2 minutes. All said and done probably takes a good 10 minutes for a acceptable picture ready to upload. Since I use ebay's turboLister, the time to upload a picture isn't an issue as I usually do soo and schedule the auction well in advance of the actualy start time.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
