Canadian municipal trade dollars

I'm looking for a book on Canadian municipal trade dollars so I can find out about the Yellowhead Highway dollars I saw in central BC as a kid. So far I've found two references:

1995 Canadian Trade Dollar Pocket Catalog
Charlton Guide to Municiapl Trade Tokens (or something like that)

The former is $2.25 and the latter is $19.95. Is the Charlton book that much better?

It wouldn't be much of a gamble to get the pocket handbook, and if it is inadequate, then try the Charlton's (which is a well known authority).

Cote wrote the handbooks and there are later editions. They are all excellent
though I've seen a surprising number of issues which aren't listed (about 5). I
think all the editions also include the US issues.

I didn't even know that Chalton had a guide for these.

Charlton doesn't have a Municipal Trade Token Catalogue (it is Colonial Tokens).

The reference you need is Serge Pelletier's Standard Guide of Municipal Trade Tokens & Notes. My copy is dated 1993. Not sure if there is a newer edition.

Please post some specifics of the tokens and I'll look 'em up.
