redsoxjeff is usually a bidder with a mission, right now its 77's and next week he will be selling them to buy 78's! i am no expert on 77's but i believe we said the same thing about the hunter 3 months ago and the yount that went for close to 500 2 years ago. i have not seen a yount since then.
Jeff is truly outrageous. Unlike any other bidder/person I have ever encountered. Blindly whacking certification numbers. I wonder sometimes if he even glances at the scan. I love 77's more than anyone on the planet, but a couple grand a month is...WOW! I would be logging some significant "couch" time if my CC bill looked like his and my wife got a peek at it. When that happens to him--I'm glad I live on the opposite coast!
About the card: I think to say that 326. is WAY overpriced is pretty funny. I'll tell you what, find me a couple real nice ones and I'll pay you what's "fair". The pop is 5 and here's the REAL report... I have had three of them in hand. submitted one-(the one that's in my set) bought another.
One (the first one to be graded by PSA) was on eBay two years ago and sold for 223.00. The card was amazingly just a hair better centered than 70/30 with a roller mark. I emailed the seller and he said he was surprised it got a 9--he was just hoping for an 8. I passed.
Another I found at the National. VERY weak 9. Chipping on the top AND bottom edges with a soft color strike and a slight tilt...reasonably clean and sharp. Blah card. What I would call a "dog".
That leaves the one All-Star cards auctioned that closed at around 250. That was a legitimate MINT copy. I was irritated with Craig at the time so I didn't bid on his card, otherwise that's another 300+ copy.
There may be a vending run out there with THE BOMB in it, but I've been tirelessly doing this set and cracking oodles of product and chasing 77 Munsons for a decade and (like the Hunter) is a beetch of a card to find really nice. The current copy looks to have soft color as well but the scan is so small who can be sure. If a vending run makes the pop jump to, say, a dozen Munson's--look for this card to stay well above 2 bills permanently as long as I'm employed. Nobody's getting hurt buying the Yankee captain on a back-to-back World Championship team from arguably the most condition sensitive set (allowing for 1971) of the decade--and one of Munson's most attractive cards--for 3 bills and change.
My ONLY question is "Is the card worthy of the grade?"...Most bidders don't care.
395.00 not bad . i wish i had that kind of money this close to christmas. oh well the vending bomb will surface and i am guessing somewhere around von karmen ave.

5-PSA 9
None higher.
Still way overpriced at $326 currently. There are more 9s out there. Just be patient. Redsoxjeff is on a mission. You won't win this one.
