Identity Question For 1975 Topps Collectors

Anybody know who the bidders "thetanu" and "psuinnyc" are? They are definitely active in snapping up PSA 9's.

  • As the 72 guys about PSU. I'm sure they know, because he's a player over there.
  • Me being rather new here, I don't know those two from here. However I have ran into both more often then I like on ebay. Thetanu has purchased a raw 75 set or two from me. I think I can probably pull a real name if you like. I know that the last nice run of 9s that were listed, a couple went rather low. Most of which were all low pops, but I think psuinyc snatched a good part of them up. Since I am still working on 8s, I did not win any of those 9s not for lack of trying though. I was shocked that Wedzel did not win more then the couple he did. From what I seen of them that were listed most had a pop of 10 or less and some were of 5 or so. All would been nice, blah..... So no clue who either are, but I can find real info on thetanu if interested...

Sure, Jeff. I once set him an e-mail, introducing myself (since we had been bidding on alot of the same stuff) and he never bothered to reply for some reason.
  • "psuinnyc" also seems to be a big player in PSA 9s from 1971 Topps recently. I have noticed that he has been outbidding many of the other high end PSA 9 collectors (Chris Renaud, littlesteffi, etc.) of 1971 Topps lately. He must have a high disposable income to be competing with them at $200 to $300 per card for commons.

On an interesting side note for 1971 Topps collectors, Chris Renaud appears to be making serious effort just to complete his set lately. He actually outbid me on a couple of PSA 7s last night. They were a couple of SPs (Voss and Reynolds), but they aren't even the tough PSA 7 SPs. I am still shocked to see him bid on those to put in his set! I didn't think they would make the grade for his set. LOL.
  • They are both active on 1974 sets as well. I tried contacting PSU a couple of months ago and got a pro forma answer. Maybe "psuinnyc" means a PSU grad who lives in NYC... duhhh... While they are both active, neither have proved a real problem to me....image

    Guys,

I don't know who thetanu is, but PSUINNYC is Brian Long from Manhattan. He bought Andy Montero's 72 set that was 60% complete in PSA 9 a number of months back and has been looking to complete it. He bids pretty heavily on PSA 9's from 1970 up to the late 70's. The only 72 bidder with a bigger sledgehammer is EOMINT (Eric Olander) and at times when the two of them want a card - I get left in the dust.

I've sold Brian in the last few months - good buyer, prompt payer - not very talkative - doesn't have his sets registered with PSA.

And when Brian's done, I'll probably be ready to start the set again - this time in 9 or better. image

  • JEB,
if i get frustrated enough i know where you could pick up 50 to 65% of the set in 9's image

I'm sure he is thrilled that you have broadcast his name here.

edited to add: especially since you decided his place of residence needed to be public.

He's not listed in the phone book as far as I can tell and Manhattan is a pretty big city. I think he and his card collection are safe for now.

I'm sure someone will post his address, social security number and credit card info if you ask.
