when is the big ROOSIE showdown?

I remember reading a few months back about a couple (or three) of the top ROOSIE collectors having booths and a showdown with their PCGS/NGC/raw dimes to see who had the best set

When is this going to be? or did I miss it?

I have never seen a MS68 and this may be my only chance in a LONG time-

(I also need to start saving my money for the trip:frownimage

Craig is correct. I know Larry Shepherd has volunteered to display the RainbowRoosie set, since it is a partial PCGS/NGC set. There has been discussion with BJ about finalizing the GLOBAL 1946-date Roosie Registry set, which will likely be the required set for the PCGS exhibition. I am finalizing arrangements to present a global collection which may give OnlyRoosies a "run for his money". Perhaps Danny or Rick or someone else will also be ready to compete by then. It should be a lot of fun later next year.

I will try and be there in Long Beach, but will leave my Roosevelts at home.

I will attend that show were-ever it is, but I agree with Paul my Roosies will stay at home. I hope to have both sets complete by then, but Nick, Rick, Colorfulcoins, Mitch, and the rest will have plenty of cool Roosies for all of us to salivate over!!!! imageimage

Why is everyone saying "I'll go, but my roosies will stay home????" Don't you really want to know how your best coins stack up?? I do!!! If someone has better toned roosies than I do, I'd happily pay admission just to see them!! C'mon, step up to the plate...imageimage

I never payed much attention to set size and just now realized that the complete 1946 - date
set consist of 125 coins. I hope PCGS has plenty of room to display 2 complete sets. The showdown
is set for the June Long Beach Show.

    "ROOSEY SHOWDOWN"
I feel helpless, at this time,as far as competing in a "Roosey Showdown".
I haven't taken the time to "load" my gun.
Before I can even think about competing in a showdown, I am
going to have to "make" myself some bullets.image
    Hopefully I can make some
    BIG bullets.image
I have never been to Calif.
Hope to go there in 2004.

    Rainbowroosie,
The statement "I will attend, but will leave my Roosies at home", was made I guess for a few reasons. I personally do not feel that my Roosie sets match up to any of the top 10 or so sets at this time. I would feel stupid bringing 1 or 2 top Roosies to a "Roosie Showdown". Most of you Roosie collectors care for the wild toning and stuff like that, when I take mine "Blast white". IMHO, Roosies came from the mint W/O toning, but that is the way I like it. Plus I had an almost complete collection at 1 time on the registry, and chose to sell the NON-FB Roosies away before the prices fell on them. I got hit REAL HARD when PCGS went to the FB designation, because I found out the hard way my collection just didn't stand up. My new collection is a few years of hard work in the process, and will be someday, if I have to fight tooth and nail, be 100% from 1946-date FB!

So I will show up in june/july in Long Beach to have lunch with whomever and will go bug-eyed when I see those wonderful sets.

In the meantime I will wait patiently for Nick to send me my 1961 PCGS MS66FB blast white Roosie, that I just aquired off of eBay.

    Thanks, Nick!

Paul, Your going to be real happy with the 61 that I sent to you today. I personally
pulled that coin from a roll. I would have to problem with the coin if the tag read
MS67FB. The coin is that nice. Congrats on a nice addition to your set paul.

    Nick,
I only wish I could have won those beautiful 1955's you also had for sale!

I have to say that you have the #1 Roosie set and you don't let that go to your head. You have done nothing but compliment others and have never openly gloated about your set. THAT to me is the most impressive thing about your set.

    Nick,
I agree fully with stooge that YOU have the #1 roosie set -- toooooooooo bad your "extremely expensive plastic" set doesn't have a "lick of eye appeal!!!!" Time to reheat this epic roosie battle with some serious name calling and boldface bragging (i.e. lies)....I dare you, I just dare you to post a cool looking coin (Varlet, if thou dost have one with any REAL COLOR)!!!imageimageimageimageimage

Bill......oh BIll......that 56D that Nick has pictured is NICER than mine.....and YOU thought mine was "the nicest 56D in the world" to more-or-less quote you.....so, I don't think its Nicks coin that aren't good looking - it has to be something else, something that's missing, something - wait, I got it! Its your roosievision, its out of adjustment! You need some NEW coins to focus your roosievision to what TRUE colors look like (how's that for boldface lies?) Buddy, you need a color fix and you need it bad!

Unfortunately, I may not be bringing my set either as it's looking like you have to have BOTH a clad and a silver set to run with the big dogs AND I don't have a friend like Larry Sheppard that will display my set..............snivel, snivel, whine, whine......

    Craig,
just bring your very best coins and I'll tell everyone they are part of my set!!! A little "cheating" might be in order for us "poor" guys to compete with the "rich guys (aka Nick/Mitch!!!).imageimageimageimage
