My one and only purchase...

I think this will do me for the year. I haven't seen it yet, but according to my representative it's a beauty. I've been watching for one for quite awhile. This one has nicely struck rays.

It's type set bound! image

    DAM,

I was watching and listening to the B&M auction last night. There were 2 1866's in MS66, and this one appeared to be the better of the two. I don't see any die cracks or weakness anywhere, and the luster is outstanding. Congratulations on winning a great coin.

    Thanks Jim.

I can't wait to see it in person. Mike Printz (Larry Whitlow) represented me at the auction. Of the 2 he said this was the best. I was very pleased to have won it, and thankful I didn't have to go my max bid. I've been watching a number of auctions and checking dealer sites for months and this has about the strongest rays and stars I've seen. I"m not suggesting this is the finest for the date, just that it's one of the nicest I've seen since I've been looking.

As for die cracks, these are know for them, and that's not a problem with me. There seems to be one you can see running from the denticles throught CEN. Where it goes from there I can't tell from the image. This is a copy of the large image on the B&M site and is a bit blurry from being adjusted to the fit the 50kb limit.
