Congratulations to Ron Rittlinger for his 1968 Topps Set making the Registry HOF

I just noticed the Hall of Fame Icon on his set while browsing the 1968 Topps Baseball Set Registry. What an amazing achievement: an incredible 9.30 GPA!

His 1968 Topps Baseball Set is now open for public viewing.

Way to go Ron!

  • Ron - I was a pleasure to meet you at the Nationals also and you truly deserve acolades for your HOF achievement. Incredible set!

Never met a Vintage card I didn't like!
  • The only 8 I found in the set was the 49-Brinkman yellow letter. Basically 30% GEM MINT 10s. Impressive, even for a '68 set. Any major sets with that high of a GPA, vintage or modern?

Not to go around correcting fellow collectors. He also needs the 16 Pinnella and the 285 Mcauliffe. They are both 1of1's with the 16 in my set and the 285 in Davillilo's. I emailed Ron and he knows he can get the 16 from me when he is ready. I am not sure about the 285 but Jim has sold cards in the past for SMR x ?. Anyway it go's the set is a powerehouse with many 10's and some very hard to find 9's

Ron's the man. I'm just glad I was able to put about 30 or so from my submissions into Ron's set. Back when 1968 9's werent so popular. I believe Ron is in Vegas and was taking it easy.

    Dave,

Ron has made offers for the McAulliffe but not quite high enough yet.

As with any card in my collection, I will sell at the right price.

Can you believe that Jay Wolt not selling us his Kellogg's privately and letting those other two guys buy them? Boy, what are friends for. Jay is not going to like it when my top 10 dealer list comes out later this month.

Stump made them earn those bad boys though.

Levi Bleam's '60 Fleer Set has a GPA of 11.35, but for these purposes probably deserves an asterisk next to it, since it is on bonus points.

Very nice. I'm glad Ron opened it up for viewing. Now it's time for the scans. image
  • Absolutely awesome set!

As far as I can tell, there is one more 8 in it ... 453 Ellis. The last time I checked, there was a single PSA-9 and it is sitting comfortably in Stump's set.

Your right I forgot about the Ellis. It is in my set. I snuck that one from him when he was concentrating on the pirates team 10. Thats a good one. Last I checked no nines 1 ten.

DAVALILLO - I couldn't sell the 4 PSA-10's privately, even if I wanted to. They were on consignment from a guy that I talked into submitting a large amount of '70 Kellogg's to see what will come back high grade. As it turns out Stump won 1, Gemmintman won 1 and the King won 2. No strangers, all good customers and good guys. Plus you add the Stargell crew of Virtualizard & Basilone who would want the Stargell PSA-10, I would have been in a no win situation if I sold them privately, even at the expsense of your coveted Top 10 list. At least w/ an honest auction, everyone has a fair chance to obtain them..jay

    Jay,

I know they weren't yours...just pulling your chain...but it will cost you in the ratings...and they may all be good customers but they are not all good guys.

Anyone who has not had the pleasure of meeting Ron is missing out. I could only contribute one PSA 10 to his efforts over the years...but you can't deal with a nicer, more hilarious guy. He has forgotten more funny experiences than most people ever dream up.

    Congratulations on the HOF set!

    Regards,
