B&M auction on radio, question about starting bid

I'm listeneing to the B&M auction on the radio and my question is this, the starting floor bid isn't always the last current bid from the internet, why is that? Some start a few hundred higher, other are right on? Are there other bids? Mail, phone ? Anyone have an idea?

Just a guess, but most likely a fax and or phone bid.
