website design for you to critique

I will preface this by explaining what stage this is in:
When I get a job to develop a website one of the first things I do is sit down at photoshop and design a scheme for the site. I don't start plugging at the scripting code until I have enough information to go on. Given that, I create a large JPG of the design I have in mind. Be mindful that the design linked below is one of those large JPG files...it is NOT an interactive web page with links, and it IS a HUGE file for dialed-in folks. Please skip this thread if you don't want to view a rather large JPG file.
With that having been said, this is the initial design concept for what will be a site dedicated to collecting tax tokens. Let me know what you think of the design...

Not trying to be critical, just helpful. God knows if I created a webpage....well, I just would hire someone like yourself!
You are doing well, subject 15837. You are a good person.
How do you determine how long to make the page (vertically)? Since it's a JPG I can't see how it looks at different IE text sizes. Looking at your link it seems like it could fit on a single screen without having to scroll down, except that the text is kind of large.
I think the background is really nice, but the Superman at the top looks a bit strange because it's hard to tell that it's part of a comic book cover. The background also seems a bit wide on the sides.
On the main menu, I would remove the words "tax token" from the links for the FAQ and news.
I wish I could do web pages half as well.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

The general majority have to do with the fact that this is an unscalable image, not a 'real' web page. Once the formatting is done for a real web page, it will not cut off at the edges, have to be scrolled, etc...it will all fit into an 800x600 screen all the while still having good balance in a 1024x768 screen.
As for the main menu items, good thought...I will indeed change that.

I'm running a 20" monitor at 1024 x 768. It all fit on the screen with the links all easily indentified. It looks like it will be easy to navigate without being cluttered. I think you've got a great start.
The good thing about having multiple personalities is that there's always a designated driver.
Yes, I'm an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial.
To turn off automatic picture resizing, you have to click 'tools>internet options' then the advanced tab. Look under multimedia and uncheck the box next to 'Enable Automatic Image Resizing'.
Of course like I said before, once the 'look and feel' have been okayed and I'm happy with it, I will be creating the actual HTML layout which won't present all these minor problems you guys are reporting. Remember, this is a picture, not a web page.
