I thought it was a GOOD BUY!!!!! I bought it!!!! It is a POP 7 coin!

    With a PCGS MS66 1972-P TY 2 @ $10,000 - $12,000 or more I think it is a good investment

I would be willing to bet you don't see another 1972-P TY 2 PCGS MS65 come up for sale again anytime soon!

I was one of the underbidders and tend to agree with you. Let me know how it looks when you get it. The photo's look nice.

    Congrats!

    CONGRATS GRANDAM!!

You got a very good coin/investment!! Ike collectors have known about the Type 2 Ikes for a long time now and have been searching for them long before PCGS ever decided to recognize the three 1972 varieties. Because of this, I really don't think there are going to be very many more 65-66 Type 2 quality coins coming "out of the woodwork" any time soon.

PCGS recognizing them and including them in an Ike Variety Set is only going to increase the demand.....I just don't think the supply of (65-66) will increase that much.....making your recent buy a good investment as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I've seen another 1972-P PCGS MS65 Type 2 Ike for auction on eBay in the past 2-3 years????image
Might be another 2-3 years before we see another....but, you never know!image

    I LOVE IKES!!

imageI knew they were rare but did not think it would go up that much, I guess people did not need one for their registry last year. It seems like all the high grade clads are up in value even though their pop went up.

  • Well you probably made the customers who recently bought my 65's happy. image

I haven't sold one for that much, but on the other hand I sold one for over $1000 way back in 2000. So it depends a lot on the coin.

I was offered one for under $800 last year and I did not take it image

I'm hoping for a 64 (65 in my dreams but not likely) on the one that I just sent in for grading on the Express. I didn't really mind paying the Express fee as I payed next to nothing for the coin....A 65 might never happen but the challenge is all part of the fun. Don't you think??? I'm just gonna keep looking and trying....

I think the far back as you can search is 30 days...

Slugfootball, you landed quite a deal on a 1972 Type 1 a few months back if I remember correctly. That too was a lucky score! I keep looking to the point of insanity, but I can't find any deals...image
  • Massscrew,

I did not get lucky enough to land the Ty 2, I did use "Buy it now" from the same
seller the night before to get a Ty 1 PCGS MS65 for 119.00 ( Lucky enough !! ) image

If anyone knows how to bring up an Ebay auction archive more than 30 days
The ebay auction ended 9/04/03 seller name "teapartycoin"
