Michigan Quarters Recalled (humor)

MICHIGAN QUARTERS RECALLED

The United States Treasury has announced they are recalling the new Michigan quarters: "We are recalling all of the new Michigan quarters that were recently issued." Undersecretary Russell Shackelford said in a press conference Monday. "This comes in the wake of numerous reports to this agency that the quarters will not work in parking meters, toll booths, vending machines, pay phones, or other coin-operated devices." "We believe the problem lies in a design flaw." said Shackelford.

The winning design for the Michigan quarter was submitted by a Yooper. (a person who lives in the Upper Peninsula or UP for you non Michiganders.)

"Apparently, the duct tape holding the two dimes and nickel together keeps jamming in the coin-operated devices."

A rube is basically a hick.... And being from the UP, I'm probably a bit biased, so I won't answer. image

    hayseed

I use this term a lot when talking to people south of Michigan. It really endears you to the locals to refer to them as hayseeds. Especially if you point and laugh after you call them that. image

Old joke and has been used on several on several of the already issued state quarters. I know I have heard it for TN, KY, and Arkansas so far, now Michigan.

When I lived in Michigan there was a movement to give the UP to the Canadians. They would not take it!

As a 13-year Michigan resident myself, I can certainly relate! Michigan is a very nice place for 8 months of the year (Craig N, not so sure about December and April as being really nice months).......make that 6 months if you're in the UP <grin>.

Oh "Hell" (We have a town named Hell in Michigan) - It gets even worse - we actually "traded" Toledo to Ohio for the UP!

Born in New York, grew up in Florida, lived in Chicago, and now live in Newport Beach, CA... All I have to say is UP Michigan is some of the most beautiful land in the world! I've been sailing up there many times...
