Info needed from an experienced eBay user

Auction Link

I sent the seller a question about shipping costs for this item and immediately got this back on my e-mail:

The original message was received at Thu, 4 Dec 2003 03:52:05 -0800
from radio.sjc.ebay.com [10.6.61.29]

I also got a typical confirmation mail from eBay saying my question HAD been sent.

My question now is: Did the mail go to him or not? Should I just try again?

Sorry to sound so foolish but I have not had this happen before.

No, it didn't get to him. You can try it again, but there's a good chance that the same thing will happen.

The email did not get thru.

I don't understand it, but I have dealt with this seller before and he will not or cannot accept email from the ebay services - it's something about the HTML graphics that are being sent in the email. He is a good seller and fairly accurate in his descriptions - at least in the stuff that I have purchased from him. He is also a very quick shipper.

What you should try is to send a plain email to the address outside of ebay (since you now know the address that the email was sent to) and it will go thru. His real email is listed in the second line of the failure message.

Thanks..... isn't this sort of unusual? He has a large feedback rating and a lot of auctions on line right now.

It makes it a pain to deal with, but there are a lot of very paranoid people who are afraid that if they accept mail that contains HTML (graphics or otherwise) they will get a virus and have to go thru the pain associated with that. What most people won't do is pay the little bit extra that it takes to have a good anti-virus program to prevent just this sort of thing from happening.

Weird stuff happens all the time. There is a particular seller I often buy from, but if I try to look at his offerings on my computer at work over lunch, I can't see past the "Description" title line. At home, with the same browser, I have no trouble.
