I asked the other day a question regarding accepting paypal when selling my 1969 topps psa set. I have a normal verified account. If my auction sells, will I be able to accept a $2000 plus payment through this account? Do I have to sign up for a new type of account? If so where? Any help from one of you big sellers would help allot.
Thanks,
Glen

Assuming your set sells for $2,000 and you decide to accept a credit card payment through Paypal, know that Paypal will take a $58.30 cut of your sale.
And remember, like Richard said, if you upgrade your membership to the Premier level, there is no turning back and you will be charged a fee for every transaction as a seller.
That said, I did it several years ago, and I really don't have a problem with the fees knowing up front what it's going to cost. I just don't accept Paypal on high dollar items (over $1000). I don't know if that has hurt me or not.
JEB.
But as of late I have changed that policy. I now believe the fees are worth paying because people prefer to pay by credit card because of the fraud protection they get for free through the credit card bank. I strong feel that I get more bidders since I started to accept credit cards. Maybe not on every auction but I think I come out ahead in the end.

JEB - Its more worthwhile to me to accept $1000+ transactions via Paypal then the smaller $ ones. Now and then I sell ungraded modern cards and start them at $2 or $3 each, and when someone wins any at that level and pays thru Paypal, theres not much left after eBay gets its 2 cuts and Paypal gets its 1. At least w/ a $2000 transaction, $50 off the top end is nominal. It would be $300 for the larger auction houses, so to me its a bargain...jay

I accept creditcards through paypal all the time, most of the people pay instantly and I just ship the item off next day. The fees aren't that much considering the amount that you recieve. And I've sold a bunch of Big ticketed items to people who could only afford the item with a creditcard through paypal. There are a few that will send a cashier's check from their bank, but their taking that risk sending it to me in an envelope with a 34 cent stamp.
I think everyone who sells on ebay should accept a Creditcard with their paypal, your just losing money that you could have made. You probley could have made a ton of money off me.

I'll use the Paypal debit card any chance I get to get that 1.5% cash back when shipping, paying ebay fees, or getting gas.As well, keeping a balance in your account allows you to earn 1.04% every 7 business days or so.When you first were able to earn a return on your balance I remeber it being 1.92%.Pennies on the dollar but at the end of the year it adds up.
I wonder if Paypal is a part of those companies who promise cash back to their customers who make it look like they are but really not.
Anybody know what I'm talking about?I caught the headline on the news but didn't see the story.
