'47-P BTW

I'm in desparate need of a 1947-P BTW, PCGS MS66 to complete a very nice set. Willing to pay top dollar, or trade a '47-D PCGS MS66 for it.

  • There is one 47P BTW PCGS-66 in Bower and Merena Auction.
  • Welcome to the forums to both of you!

I don't have that BTW, only a '46-S in 65, so I'm no help there.
  • Just curious as to what you expect top dollar to be? The last 47-P BTW that I saw in auction(Heritage, I believe) went for almost $1500.00 with the "juice". I'd be willing to part with a 47-D and 50-D BTW in PCGS MS66 for a 47-P BTW in PCGS MS66. I posted in BST about a month ago, not even 1 response.

The 1947 - P - BTW in MS 66 really is a tough coin. I was able to find a nice PCGS MS 65, that was high end for its grade. That'll suit me for my set. The $1,410. I saved can go towards a key date I need to
    complete my registry set.

  • I saw the 47P BTW PCGS-66 in auctions 5 times in the past 2 years.
two times in teletrade. one in Kingswood Auction, one in Heritage.
And one is on this current B & M Auction. I was lucky that I have won one in Teletrade. I believe this coin is never on Ebay.
  • The 47-P BTW in 66 is a VERY TOUGH coin indeed. I don't believe the pop reports are accurate for this coin, supposed to be 38 coins in MS66, where are they? Maybe 1 or 2 coins per year show up in an auction, if that. I believe the pop reports are inflated due to people trying to make the first MS67. If you count how many are in current collections, the BTW set, 50-piece and 144-piece and even allowing for additional sets not registered, you might come up with maybe 20 coins, so where are they? Just my opinion.

You are so right..." so where are they..." They are resubmissions hoping for a POP "1" MS 67. At least that is what is the most obvious to me. Any thoughts on this ?

  • There's a 47-P BTW in PCGS MS66 in the upcoming Heritage Signature sale at the FUN show.
