PCGS Regency Holder

Hello, what was the purpose of this holder? I heard for $50.00 a person could have a pedigree on the holder or something like that. Let's say a barber quarter was in one of these old Regency holders and said double die obverse on the holder. Is that something that PCGS verifies? I would think so otherwise there would be a lot of fraud out there.

    The Regency holder was a PCGS marketing experiment from about 12 years ago. The idea was to offer collectors a super high end holder for their very special coins. We created the over-sized holder and allowed the submitter to out just about anything within reason on the label of the holder. The idea sank like a stone and very few were ever sold.
