Mr. Hall,
There has been a lot of talk in the media and the message boards on the SS Republic treasure. Could you kindly speculate what impact this might have on gold coin collecting, gold coin prices, and interest in numismatics? Also, do you know if the discoverers' (OMR) intend to submit the coins to PCGS following certification? Finally, is there any lasting effect that seawater or subsequent curation has on these gold coins, to your knowledge?
Thanks! I know I ask for a lot of information, much of it speculative!
Robert

I feel the new "hoard" of gold coins will bring additional publicity to the coin market and have a positive impact. There will probably be a few dates that are abundant in the hoard that will be priced at lower levels.
Curation, if done properly such as in the SS Central America coins, makes the coins turn out as if they were just minted. I believe there is no damage and the coins will be fine and dandy long term.
