It looks 60/40. I really dislike the small scan on a card that expensive though. Fisheyes and other print marks that '75s are prone to don't show up very well on scans like that. Not that the seller would do that on purpose, though.
A while back one sold for close to 1k, then another went for about half that. I'd say in the 4-5 hundred range. I think most of the top dogs that wanted this card now have it. The pop has really jumped on this card, not to long ago there were less than a handful in this grade.....
This seller typically has huge reserves when he first lists a card on ebay. I would bet that whatever the final bid is, it will still probably not meet his reserve.
It was the hardest regular issue Schmidt card for me to find in top shape.
Shortly after I found mine -- I was able to acquire the Topps Mini #70 in PSA 9, which seems to be even harder (now) to find in top shape. At that time, I purchased the mini for less than half what I paid for the regular.
Agreed that the small scan is somewhat annoying on this issue. It's also interesting to note that -- while no PSA 9 was publicly sold from late 1999 - March 2002, there have now been six of these cards auctioned off in PSA 9 in the past 18 months. Additionally -- I'm not sure what ever happened to the SGC 96 1/1. I know a board member was close to acquiriting it -- but not sure what happened when the owner saw that the first three PSA 9s were all sold in the $1,000 range.
As for my personal goals -- I'm personally looking to upgrade my #307 HR Leaders to a PSA 10, if possible. I have some awfully high-grade 9s of that card, and I may be tempted to break one or two of them out in the New Year for resubmission.
I'm out of the market for these anymore, especially given my interesting financial perspectives over the last few months. Of all the Schmidt cards that I have -- this and the 1973 Topps are the only two primary carsd that I probably don't have a more than one example of in PSA 9 (for those examples where I have yet to obtain a 10).
Have an extra 1973 OPC 9 that I will probably divest in the near future, and I am eagerly anticipating the grade I will receive on the 72 PR sticker I recently submitted.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
mikeschmidt...any idea on what last mini sold for in psa 9. I don't remember seeing one go down on ebay in last year +. With a pop of only 4, you would think that card might go for double or triple what regulars goes for now. Nice score on your mini mike schmidt.
There aren't as many people pursuing minis, so supply and demand has actually made the regular issue more expensive, even though there were fewer minis made.

I purchased mine for approximately $513. I think I may have seen one other for sale once -- but I may be mistaken. I think I purchased the one and only that I ever saw....

This is my second favorite Schmidt card. The 74 being my favorite, which i still have the one that i got back in 1974.

Scott -- As much as I love the 1974 #283 Schmidt -- I would say that 90% of the examples I've ever handled always have the two annoying yellow print circles in the red Philadelphia banner in the top left corner. Finding a nice Schmidt without that is a pretty extraordinary accomplishment.

The 1/1 SGC 96 Schmidt is now is now in a PSA 9 holder. I was able to acquire it and cross it over while attending the National in 2002.

Looking for 1975, 1978, and 1979 Topps Baseball in high end PSA 9 and PSA 10. ______________________________________ The best presents in life are the ones you give yourself!
Thanks, Frank -- I was curious what happened to that one
