Does it seem to anyone else that the number of registered sets is growing exponentially? It seems like the last 1000 happened overnight...

The vast amount of that growth is accounted for in the one-offs, I believe (e.g. the "team sets" and the "player sets"), most often by individuals that are collecting the larger set and feel compelled to list all their Joe Schlobotnik cards in the Joe Schlobotnik Registry when some requests that.
You are right, though.
P.S. Hope you enjoy the Roberts cards -- had trouble letting it go!
This is Charlie Brown's favorite player right? I googled him and actually found a website of a sports fan named Joe Schlobotnik. Looks like it may be a pseudonym.
I always figured Joe Schlobotnik was actually Joe Garagiola. As I was growing up, I always liked him as an announcer but never saw him play. I figured Charles Schultz may have liked him too. Funny things you relate when growing up.
Pardon the Interruption.

That brings up the question, how many different PSA categories are registered?
All the sets, team sets, player sets, in all sports and in non sport, does anybody know?...jay
