1970 Kellogg's PSA 10 Foodfight Results!!

Wow! The results of tonight's epic 1970 Kellogg's PSA 10 battle royale, sponsored by our good friend Jay of Qualitycard fame are in. The headliner was the PSA 10 Stargell 1/1 which was won by thegemmintman for a nifty $1,025. King Kellogg won the Hundley and Pepitone cards for over $400 each, and Stump - who was the bridesmaid on the other three - won the Kaline card for a measly $330 (I sat this one out since I just started a brand new set over the past week).

Congrats to gemmy for another leap in his tremendous set and also to King and Stump for sparkling additions to their collections!

I wanted that card, and made an attempt at it before it made its way to ebay. Jay made the right choice. Congrats to Gemmintman and Jay!

The interesting thing was when I auctioned the 7 cards tonight (4 PSA-10's & 3 PSA-9's) is I had no idea
what any would bring. With Topps star cards you always have an idea, but w/ Kellogg's high grades, its
anyones guess. Out off all the cards the biggest surprise to me was the PSA-9 Tim Cullen that almost
brought in $300. It wasn't so long that Horlen was the top dawg for common PSA-9's, Now its Cullen,
it almost doubled the Carlos May PSA-9 I had tonight...jay

    CHEERS!!
  • Jay - The Cullen card does not surprise me at all. For months that was the only card standing in the way of my having a 9.0 set grade (seems like ages ago now) and while I don't remember what I finally paid, I am pretty sure it was over $175.

STEVE - When I was working on the set many moons ago, the tough cards were Horlen & May. What a difference a few submissions make...jay

My tough one was the Cullen as well. Bought 2 in the cello's hoping to pull a 9, only to have both turn out cracked. Ended up getting the 9 from a friend for $55. I think it will be the tough one for a while.
None of these 10's came up on my searches, time to re do the bookmarksimage

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • I got lucky and got the Cullen on my own submission. The Powell though, that is another story.....anyone?
