so far my best coin in the wild was a nice little 1859 penny. best non wild coin i have scored is a 1885 liberty nickel.

also i do currency bills ( USA) best find in the wild is a $20 bill from 1928. i dont do ebay or dealer sales.
also i do video games ( 99.9% classic) but i do some new ones.

Over the past few months these forums have really helped me get involved in this hobby. Before I found these forums I did not really have anyone to talk to about this hobby. My parents enjoy looking at the coins with me but that is nothing like getting to talk to people that really love the same thing that you love.

I'm John. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, but I've been moving around for the last 16 years with the Air Force. I'm currently in Japan.
I collect...I guess I havnt figured out what SET to go after. I have lots of morgans, $5 gold, quarters, pennies....At this point, being overseas, I cant decide on a set so I get what I like. I guess I'm workin on a PCGS PR69DCAM FLAG SLAB SQ set...but thats a work in progress. ONce I get back to the states, I'll get MORE involved and hopefully start working toward a set.

I'm also in to the paranormal, collecting teddy bears, metal detecting, drawing and my two kitties. I'm recently married (may 2003) to a wonderful Japanese girl who treats me way to well. But, I spoil her too

I'm Jody. I'm 43 years old. My wife, Carolyn, and I live in Patrick County, VA . We live in a very rural area, and have a Shetland Sheepdog, named Penny, and eight cats.
I've been a working man all my life. Some of the jobs I've held include, pipefitter, welder, long haul truck driver, and profesional musician. Ive also been an industrial machinery mechanic for twenty five years.
Some of my hobbys include, music, big game hunting, and of course coin collecting. I've been collecting coins since the mid-sixty's.
I've got a lot of coins. Hard to say which one I like best. But I'm very proud of my nickel collection.

Actually, JC is not an ax murderer, he is a cereal killer. He has been known to dress up in a fairy costume complete with tutu and wings, go into local supermarkets and emasculate innocent boxes of Cocoa Puffs and Frosted Flakes. After his rampages he goes back to his hovel in the desert, digs through his junk pile of old used car parts that people generally throw at him as he's leaving the scene of his hideous crimes, finds some unidentifiable gadget from a 57 Edsel, and proceeds to get money for it from innocent Auto Zone employees - he likes to badger the young ones!

I'm Shawn, and I am 27 years old, a 5th year graduate student at the University of Kentucky chasing after a Ph.D. in molecular biology. I've only been collecting about 6 months, and I have a very small budget, so my coin collection grows slowly. My best find in the wild has been a 1984-D lincoln cent with a die crack (Thread about it). Unfortunately, I haven't had any significant dealer pickings yet. There is only one dealer here and he overprices on most items. My 7 year old son helps me go through my change and collects with me. I am also interested in conversations between atheism (I am one) and Christianity, astronomy/cosmology, and the occassional video game.

Hi, my name is Dan. I'll be 47 in a couple of weeks (I certainly don't feel that old). I'm mostly a type collector, with the exception of a few sets I've put together. Currently single, no pets, no children at home (one daughter, married). I have a cottage on Echo Lake in Echo Bay Ontario, which is the focus of my attention during the summer. Echo River, which runs from Echo Lake into Lake George, has the distinction of being one of two rivers in North America that runs both ways.

The only thing that gets in my way is having to clean the house. Otherwise a comfortable existance.

Hello. I am an Italian Greyhound. I am about one foot tall, and I weigh ten pounds. Today is actually my birthday, and I am now six yeas old, or maybe seven depending on whom you ask. I do not collect coins, but I do enjoy sprinting, butt-sniffing, and sleeping.

My daddy collects coins. He is all over the map with his collection right now, so I try to help him focus by stepping on his coins when he has them spread out on the floor. I also make sure to jump on his lap whenever he's trying to type on the computer.

Daddy was going to be a doctor, but after three years of medical school he decided that he should instead open up a coffee shop. Now daddy wants to be a doctor again. My daddy is silly!

I know daddy appreciates all the things he has learned on this forum, and is very happy to be a teensy part of it.

Hi everyone. I'm a board-certified pathologist, 45 years-old, and spend much of my work days looking at tissue slides under a microscope trying to figure out whether or not the patient has cancer or other medical conditions. My job also entails doing autopsies including forensic cases. I reside on the West coast of Michigan near Lake Michigan where we get about 110 inches of snow each year due to lake-effect. The beaches are beautiful white sugar sand.

I began collecting as a youth around age 10 years following in the lead of my maternal grandmother. I collected a variety of coins including rolls of BU Lincolns, put together a set of Lincolns in circulated condition and assorted other partial sets of buffalo nickels and mercury dimes. Used to really like Franklins, but not doing anything with them right now. My focus now is on barber coins and I collect them in any and all grades trying to avoid culls. My pride and joy is my registry mint state barber half collection.

Hi, my name is Mark, I'm 36. I am a radiologist (common vocation around here). That entails sitting in a dark room looking at films and scans all day trying to decide which smudges are important and getting sued when the wrong smudges are chosen.

I collect coins of all US types. I especially like seated coinage, and have a growing lust for old proofs. i haven't found muchof anything of worth in the wild except a 60-d RPM lincoln. It's a D/D east. I'll have to consult coppercoins for a diagnosis when I get a good picture of it.

I am 33 years old and have been back into collecting on a more serious nature for about 7 years now. I used to collect when I was younger, mainly worked on completing an Indian Head and Lincoln cent collection. Used to save all summer long just to be able to pick up a date or two for my collection at the local September show. Even then, those darn key-dates were hard to save for because they were so expensive. When I came back too collecting, I decided to collect key-dates and try to aquire them from various series in the best possible grade I could afford and find. After a few years back into it, I began to develop a real taste for eye-appeal and quality when selecting pieces for my collection. I continually try to upgrade various coins from my collection as nicer pieces come availble and more importantly as the funding for them comes availble. Also, For those of you who do not know, PCGS is my service of preference.

As far as my field of work, I am responsible for the southeast region for a major certification/inspection agency for manufactured housing, which is my area of expertise!

It's very tough to find decent U.S coins in my country and I think I didn't have to spend much money on coins if not for the internet
The toughest part of collecting U.S coins is "language" ....and money
I did learn English in my junior and senior high school but I wasn't a diligent student.
I started listening to radio English conversation program about a few months ago........only to learn my brain is getting old.....

Hi. My name Too Tawl. I'm 6'7" so you can figure out how I got my nickname. I collect SAEs, some GAEs, 2 different type sets, modern commemoratives, Morgans, and anything else that catches my eye. Lately, I have been having some very major problems with myleft knee. I had what the doc says is an acute gout attack last Saturday. Since then, I have not been able to use my knee at all - can't bend it, can't move it, can't put any weight on it, can't do anything with it. Now I can put limited weight on it and I'm able to bend just a little not much. Hopefully this thing wil start working again by the time Baltimore hits next weekend.

Hello all, I'm Keith.

I'm 35 and started collecting coins "again" a few months ago. My father got me into coin collecting when I was about 5, up until when he took off when I was 11. He passed away a few years ago and left me what was left of his collection. I decided to open up the suitcase of coins just recently... He left a few very nice coins and a whole lot of average old coins. What "I" consider the most valuable part of the collection is the complete set of "Hall of Fame for Great American" medals. It took a lot of diligence and 15 years to complete this collection! I'm working on a website project to display all 96 coins... Going forward I've been collecting whatever catches my eye.

As far as what I do for a living, I'm an IT (information technology) consultant and started my own business about a year ago in Newport Beach. Prior to that I was the IT Director for one of the largest IT consulting firms in the world. I've lived in Chicago for 4 years, grew up in Central Florida, and was born in New York. I don't have any children, but I have one on the way!

Oh and for the MD's on this board, I spent 5 years working in an Operating Room working my way through college. You have an important job and I miss working with you guys...
