Washington Quarter without mintmark?

Seems like I read a thread a while back about some Washington quarter(s) from about 1988 or 1989 that had no mintmark but should have?

Anyone know more about these and where to buy one in good condition?

Seems like the thread said they were quite inexpensive because most people don't know about them or just plain ignore tham.

They are all filled dies and carry little value. The media for some reason latched on to the story, I believe in 1989, and the general public went looking for them thinking they were worth big $$$$. Now the no mintmark 1982 dime, that's a different story.

There are a few Philly quarters from the late '80's without a mint mark. In 1989 one of
these briefly became quite popular. They were being sold for as much as $100 before
they began fading in popularity and were occassionally seen for as little as $10. As Veri-
dicus says, they were merely filled die errors and these rarely catch on big.

They do make an interesting curiosity.

The New Hampshire quarter also comes sometimes with out a mintmark for the same reason. I have seen a LOT of posts asking about it in the years since they were struck.
