1955 Doubled Die 1 ?

55 DDO

Does anyone know exactly what this is?

It appears to me that this cannot be the one that I think of when I refer to a 55 DDO.

Joe.

Not really. I believe you're thinking of the "Poorman's DoubledDie" from the "P" mint.

    This one is Denver.

Not nearly as collectible nor as "in your face" visible as the "P" mint version, the 55-D DD is legitimate (albeit, the weak sister).

    exactly!

listed in the cherry pickers guide.

and not as "rare" as portrayed!

It's a 1955 DDO, but not the 1955 DDO. Every year has many DD's that nobody cares about.

I bought this same coin a few weeks ago for $25.00. I would not pay $149.99 for it. Thisis the second time in the past few months I have seen this high price for this common coin.
