Washington Qtr 65/66/67 MS DC/C help?

Noticed the pcgs pops have a few and nothing of the mention at ngc. Washington rookie can anybody post one perhaps? what happened at the mint then?

Those were the 3 years of SMS coins, CAMs and DCAMs are very tough to come by.

Man, it's tough to find images of these. R&I didn't have one in their archives, and the only one I found on Teletrade didn't look like it should be in a deep cameo holder.

The mint was punishing collectors because it was believed that they were the
cause of a massive coin shortage. Congress had removed silver and mint marks
and the mint eliminated mint and proof sets. To placate their customers they
produced the SMS's which were a hybrid mint and proof set. These were not very
popular but had sales of around two million anyway. Several different processes
were tried in the production of these coins but most were made from normal plan-
chets struck a single time on slowed, high tonnage presses. Dies were prepared
much like proof dies and many had the cameo effect when put into service. This
wore off very rapidly in those days so cameo quarters of these dates are not com-
mon. It is the deep cameos though which are extremely elusive. The '65's often
have unsightly field polishing though are not too tough with light cameo. The '67's
are the most common.

The heaviest cameos I've seen are '66's.
