Jefferson variety question -- 1939-D DDO #1

Has anyone heard of this variety? I have found an ICG MS67 coin listed as this variety with a price of $185 and wondered if it was a nice double die similar to the 1939 P DDR variety. The pictures I saw of the coin don't show a close up of the doubling. I don't see the variety listed in the PCGS pops report, so I assume it must be a minor variety not recognized by PCGS.

Thanks, Charlieimage

  • Charlie....Go to CONECA's web site and pull up the Variety Master Listing page. It shows the 1939-D DDO #1 as the only DD for 1939-D. "Strong spread on date, star and liberty". I think I have an example but I am seeing more of a "RPM" type strike on the date and Liberty. (They seem on top of each other rather than doubled). Good Luck.....I might send this off to ANACS for fun.
