There are some really attractive Dark Side coins out there. I've been known to pick them up now and then, and have quite a few from Mexico, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, and Switzerland, plus many others, just because I like the designs. Every few years I become bored with U.S. coins, or think they're overpriced, and try the Dark Side for a while. I always come back to U.S. coins, though. image

Here's a 1799 British half penny in PCGS64RD that's one of my favorites. It cost $150 about 10 years ago, and I've got to believe it's a great value. George III was King during the American Revolution, and this coin was minted the year George Washington died.

You have to do something when there are no Mercury Dimes to be found. And if you noticed the coins I asked about are about the size of a dime????? LOL

Well now. Thats three of the Merc guys that are Darkside Closet guys. Nice Coin Jim. image

Tony you are correct. The reason I went to the coin shop yesterday was to look at a 27S Merc again. Darn thing was gone so something else had to be bought. I have to go back Tuesday because I forgot a bout a coin from France I want to own if he has a nice example. Maybe next Saturday at the Coin Show I'll find a Merc.

I used to collect darkside does that make me qualified for closet status?imageimage

    Al, we'll stick to 18-D's huhimage .

..but I kinda understand - some of those darkside pieces are mighty nice - I guess they just don't have the following that U.S. coins have.
