Is this really considered a Mint error?

From the 2003 Sliver mint sets...
When you look at the penny from different angles the date appears to be "200". This appears to be the result of a "weak strike" or the failure of the three to be frosted as the other high surfaces of the coin have been.

Some people are really hyping these on eBay, but I don't think it's going to be a big deal in the future.

Now that you said something and made me take my coins out to look I must agree. The three is not as clear or frosted as the 200. But it is not limited to the silver set. My Clad proof set has the same type coin, so I dont think it will be much of a rarity, most likely the standard.

I just checked 2 of my sets. It looks like it is a standard thing.

I haven't looked at my "clads". Had two silver sets sitting here after seeing a bunch on EBAY
with the "error" Both of my set had same deal on penny.

I would consider that an error.

I don't consider it a mint error myself. Or even a variety in the true meaning of what variety is. I've seen those coins and it basically has a range of cam on the 3. Probably the 3 wasn't protected well when the die was polished. Pictures of it make the contrast far more dramatic than it really is.
