Settle a bet.

My step-dad swears the Dahlonega Mint stuck only gold coins.
So far, I haven't found any silver coins struck at Dahlonega.

Same for the Charlotte,N.Carolina Mint. No silver coins !

Is this true ?

Yes, true. However, in 1840 Congress passed a law authorizing Dahlonega to coin silver, but it was never done.

Gold only at both Southern mints. (Of course, New Orleans struck both gold and silver.)

Interesting tidbit, Veridicus- I didn't know that one.

Now that you have won the bet, I hope your stepfather bet you five bucks... in Dahlonega or Charlotte-mint coins! image

Sorry, Lord M. It appears Skipper53 LOST the bet.

Any chance you can convince him that the 1921-D Morgan was struck at Dahlonega, Skipper?image
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.
