1952 PR65 DCAM QUARTER-POP1-LISTED IN TWO REGISTRY SETS

I currently own the only 1952 PR65 DCAM Quarter known.
The PCGS Pop Report has shown this date to be a Pop 1 for over one year.
How can the #24 Current Finest Set (Orange County California Collector) also show a
1952 PR65 DCAM Quarter in his Registry Set?
Any thoughts fellow members?

  • Maybe 'cause it's pop 2 but the pop reports aren't updated yet or another possibility is that when his was graded it got the coin number of the DCAM (95984) by accident but is a 65CAM or 65 neither Cam or Dcam. Or maybe it is a 66 or 67 DCAM but got entered into system mistakenly as a 65 DCAM????????????????????????????????? image

Could be a reholder where the cert number changed. Could have been a crackout where the old cert wasn't surrendered.

  • Pretty strange. Sounds like a software glitch. Since both coins are registered that should mean they have different serial numbers. Since they both appear as 65 DCAMs in the Registry sets, then both numbers should be marked as 65 DCAM. I'd send a note to SetRegistry@collectors.com describing the situation and providing the serial number on your 1952 PR65Dcam. They should be able to trace down the problem. I'd expect the population will go upimage

By the way, that is one tough quarter to make image and that is one great Registry set you haveimageimage

    Thanks COOLKARMA for the compliment.
    That is a good suggestion.
I'll notify the set registry guys, and let them sort out the situation.
Really don't want to see my Pop1 coin go to Pop2, but if that is correct, lets do it.

I had the same thing occur with a 1950 66DCAM Frankie - only one coin but it ended up in two sets at the same time. Unfortunately, neither one was mine!

One quick email to PCGS and it was cleared up within a week or so. BJ Rocks!

I sent an email to SetRegistry about the situation.
I received a reply email, saying it would take about three days
for them to sort out the situation.
I'll let you all know, when I hear back from Set Registry.

PCGS Set Registry notified me that Orange Co. Calif. Collector
was listing a coin that he no longer owned.
It has been deleted from his set.
    My Question:
How can the Registry allow one coin serial # to be listed a second time?
Seems like there would be a cross-check system in place, that would not allow a registrant to enter a coin
serial # that is already listed in the registry.

I just had the same thing happen across the street on a PCGS coin. The system allowed it because in one case it was entered with the starting 0 and in the second case without it.

    Danny,
Where have you been? all of us have missed you when you went silent just after the FB's were announced. What have you been doing lately? Give us an update on those Roosies!

    HELLO PAUL:
I am still a player in the MS Roosey Dime game.
I have just been in hibernation.
However, when I wake up, I will be growling very loudimage
I decided, when PCGS began grading FB Rooseys, that I would neither buy nor sell a single coin,
until at least one year had past.
Over the past year I have been sorting through my collection of 800+ PCGS MS67-68
dimes, looking for those that have a shot at full band.
In the near future, I will be submitting a very large group of Roosey Dimes to PCGS for possible
upgrade to full band. Watch those Pops go WAY UP.
I don't think it is wise to buy a low pop Roosey at a premium price at this time.
A pop 3 today, may be a pop 13 next week.
I will be back with the Roosey crowd, just not at this time.

Thanks Nick and RegistryCoin for the kind words.
Keep your eye on the 1932-64 MS Quarter Registry.
I will post a complete set soon.
Not a super set yet, but probably in top 15.
I couldn't find any upgrades to my Proof Washingtons, so I started
    buying MS coins.

    Hey Danny,
I just KNEW you were out there and its great to hear from ya. 800+ Roosies huh, well I kinda knew that someone would make a huge dent in those Roosie stats! I don't blame you for sitting back playing the "silent but violent" guy. I'm sure that you'll rank in the top 5 in the silver Roosies w/o a problem.

    Welcome back!imageimageimageimage
